Moira Quirk got her acting training and graduated with a B.A. in drama from the University of London and The Central School of Speech and Drama. Early in her career, she took voice acting lessons from Susan Blu and Charlie Adler.

Kaulder (Vin Diesel) is a witch-hunter who was cursed with eternal life in the Middle Ages by the Witch Queen (Julie Engelbrecht). The Witch Queen was planning to unleash a deadly plague to wipe out humanity but Kaulder was able to defeat her. Prior to seemingly dying the Witch Queen cursed him with eternal life as punishment. 800 years later, Kaulder is still working as a witch hunter for an organization which aims to keep the truce between humans and witches. Ever since he was made immortal by the Witch Queen, Kaulder is accompanied by a priest called a "Dolan" whose main purpose is to record the achievements of Kaulder and to be his keeper. The 36th Dolan (Michael Caine) is retiring from his duties and has chosen a new Dolan to work alongside Kaulder. However, the very same night he dies in his sleep. While investigating his apartment, Kaulder and the 37th Dolan (Elijah Wood) discover traces of magic and deduce that the 36th Dolan was murdered by a witch. While tracking down the witch responsible, Kaulder finds traces of old dark magic, last seen before he killed the Witch Queen. Using clues the 36th Dolan left behind, Kaulder goes to a witch bar owned by Chloe (Rose Leslie) to buy a memory spell to "Remember his death". While in the process of reliving his memory, the bar is attacked by Balkazar Kotela, better known as Belial (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson), the witch that killed the 36th Dolan. After attacking Kaulder he proceeds to burn down the place, and attack Chloe at her apartment later in the evening, though Kaulder saves her. After Chloe's friend is killed by Belial, she agrees to help Kaulder get what he needs to kill him.

Dusty Crophopper is a crop duster plane who works at a cornfield and practices aerobatic maneuvers in his spare time, dreaming of becoming a racer. His dreams are scorned by his boss, Leadbottom, and his forklift/mechanic friend, Dottie. However, he is supported by his fuel truck friend, Chug. Dusty and Chug train for qualifiers for the upcoming Wings Across the Globe race. On the night before the qualifiers, Dusty asks an elderly and reclusive navy war plane named Skipper Riley to teach him how to fly well, but Skipper refuses. Erik, son of the penguins Mumble and Gloria, is unable to dance like Emperor-Land. Erik and his two best friends, Bodicea and Atticus, follow Ramon to Adélie-Land and find that Adélie-Land has been ruled by a God-like "penguin" named Sven. Sven is actually a puffin in Adélie-Land who survived the loss of his native fishing grounds due to his "miraculous" ability to fly. Erik instantly becomes enamored with Sven, who takes a liking to him. Sven and Lovelace tell the others that they were saved by humans. The two eventually flee (under Sven's mistaken assumption that the humans were going to eat them) and end up on Antarctica, where Sven performs his first miracle by revealing moss to the local penguins. Sven uses his power of "Sven Think" to help Ramon find a mate. Ramon instantly falls in love with Carmen, another Adélie penguin who is uninterested. Mumble follows the chicks' footprints to Adélie-Land and orders them to return to Emperor-Land, but they refuse. Sven sends Erik back to Emperor-Land with Mumble.

The film begins with 12-year-old Eliza Thornberry playing with a family of cheetahs in East Africa, where her parents Nigel and Marianne Thornberry work as roving wildlife photographers for a television nature show. Eliza has the magical ability to talk and communicate with wild animals. Eliza also rides on the back of a female elephant named Phaedra throughout the jungle. The cheetah mother, Akela, has left Eliza in charge of her cubs; however, Eliza strays beyond the security of the area, and one of the cheetah cubs, Tally, is kidnapped by poachers. Eliza's persistent efforts to rescue the cub lead her British grandmother Cordelia, who is visiting them, to send her off to an English boarding school, fearing that Eliza is constantly endangering herself in Africa and will be much safer in England much to Debbie's dismay that Eliza had to go instead of her. Darwin, Eliza's "pet" chimpanzee, smuggles himself into her luggage and travels to school with her. After a chaotic food fight at a dinner Darwin attends, he is discovered and gets Eliza in trouble. The headmistress tells Eliza that her grandmother will be disappointed in her. Eliza is still guilt ridden for causing Tally to be taken away by poachers.
