Nicholas Burns (born 1977) is an English actor, best known for his comic performance as the title character in Nathan Barley. He has also played Martin in Benidorm and Alex in No Heroics, as well as making appearances alongside various Nathan Barley co-stars in The Mighty Boosh and The IT Crowd.

Refusant de croire au surnaturel et à l'au-delà, le professeur Phillip Goodman présente une émission de télévision où il démasque les charlatans qui affirment être en contact avec le monde des morts. Un jour, un de ses collègues spécialisés dans le paranormal, le professeur Cameron, lui demande sur son lit de mort de rouvrir trois étranges affaires non classées, se déroulant dans le même village, dont il n'a jamais élucidées. Alors qu'il accepte sa proposition malgré sa méfiance des superstitions, Goodman fait face à trois cas d'apparitions paranormales inexpliquées reliées entre elles par certains détails : un gardien de nuit, veuf depuis la mort de sa femme et qui a abandonné sa fille malade, est visité par le spectre d'une jeune fille qui travaillait dans un asile ; un adolescent pense avoir renversé le Diable dans les bois ; enfin, un financier est hanté par l'esprit de son enfant mort-né. Petit à petit, Goodman remet en questions ses croyances et se pense en danger.

City banker Mark (Colin Firth) lives with his pregnant wife Laura (Emilia Fox) in a large house in an upper middle-class neighbourhood. Although he has just made a fortune in a financial deal, Mark refuses to give money to a beggar in an underground station, but later regrets this behaviour and begins to feel guilty about his success and opulent lifestyle. Another day, he returns to find the homeless man and gives him 100 pounds. Mark then resolves to use his wealth to help the indigent and volunteer as an outreach worker. The story is set in 411 AD, one year after the legions of Rome withdrew from the Isle of Britannia. Pendragon is the story of young Artos who is raised to believe that God has a purpose for his life. After a tragic event resulting in the burning of his village, the death of his father, and the disappearance of his little sister Adria, he is taken into slavery by the Saxons, where Artos begins to question his God. He soon manages to escape from the Saxons and is nursed back to health by a Roman outcast named Lailoken. When he fully recovers, Artos travels to a Celtic fortress hidden in the Welsh mountains where he becomes a great warrior under King Ambrosius. Advancing through the military ranks, Artos begins to understand that his father's vision was not based on the strength of man, but on the plan of God. However, his success causes one of Ambrosius's men, his pagan Captain of the Guard Cadern, to become jealous of Artos's rapid rise to power in the military. Using a secret guard that he created several years ago, Cadern is able to murder Ambrosius, and to frame the assassination on Artos. While on trial, Artos escapes from the court, and is able to elude Cadern's elite guard. Further events force Artos to decide between following God's plan unto certain death or abandoning God to save himself.
