Biography

Orville Hampton étudie la chimie et le journalisme à l'Université de l'Illinois. Il travaille ensuite comme annonceur à la radio.

Au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, à Honolulu, il écrit et produit des comédies musicales pour l'armée. Il s'installe plus tard à Hollywood, où il devient un scénariste très prolifique pour le cinéma et la télévision.

Julie Cullen is a young parent, single for the past four years, since her husband abandoned her and their daughter, Ellen, only a year old at the time. At work, Julie, who is white, meets Frank Richards, who is black, and the two strike up a friendship that blossoms into a romance. Their relationship is strained by the racial prejudices of many around them, including Frank's parents, William and Martha, who oppose the pairing. In the Duchy of Cornwall of fairy tale days, the malevolent sorcerer Pendragon, ruler of giants, witches and all creatures evil, was defeated by the wizard, Herla, and along with his disciples exiled to an uncharted, unknown island. Pendragon however vows revenge and Herla dies, meaning there is no longer a threat against Pendragon. Years later the kingdom celebrates the crowning of Princess Elaine (Judi Meredith). The reception goes well until Pendragon (Torin Thatcher) arrives disguised as a foreign lord. He gives her a magic toy that is actually Cormoran the giant, and which is given to the Princess. When Elaine is asleep, Pendragon uses his magic to make the giant grow to full size and capture Elaine. The castle guards are too late to stop the giant. Cormoran takes Elaine to a ship, but before it can sail a brave farm lad named Jack (Kerwin Mathews) rescues Elaine. Jack then fights the giant and kills it. In gratitude, King Mark (Dayton Lummis) makes Jack her protector and entrusts him to safely guide her to a convent across the sea. However he does not know that Elaine's waiting-maid, Lady Constance (Anna Lee), is a witch in league with Pendragon and reveals the King's plan to him.

Over many years, a brilliant scientist in a turn of the century English village successfully keeps his wife's mental illness under control by injecting her with snake venom. When the wife dies giving birth to a daughter, a local witch claims that the child is pure evil and must be destroyed. Case Silverhorn (Jim Davis), a professional gambler, wants to retire from the gambling life and purchases a ranch through the mail. On the way there he saves the local Sheriff's life, who got into an ambush. The ambush did leave one man dead: the man Silverhorn purchased the ranch from is murdered before the title-deed can be recorded. Neither the Sherrif, nor the seller's children, Jud (Don Dorrell) and Sharon Donovan (Merry Anders) have any knowledge of the transaction and will not vacate the ranch. Taking a job at the local saloon, Case discovers that rustlers, unknown to the Donovans, are using the ranch-lands to hide the stolen cattle. Jud learns of the operation and is killed by the gang, and Case is framed for the murder.
