Patricia Reyes Spíndola (born Patricia Verónica Núñez Reyes Spíndola on 11 July 1953 in Oaxaca, Mexico) is a Mexican actress, director and producer.
As an actress, she has worked with directors like Nancy Cárdenas or Arturo Ripstein.
She has also worked in Mexican telenovelas. She won the Ariel prize for her roles in Los motivos de Luz and La reina de la noche.
She has an acting school she runs with her sister, Marta Reyes Spíndola, in the Colonia Juárez neighborhood of Mexico City called M & M Studio, where she also teaches.
She also became notable in Hollywood for playing the role of Griselda Salazar in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead.

Biography
Spíndola studied to become an actress in several ateliers in Mexico and London. She made her début in the movies in 1972, with El señor de Osanto, and two years later she started working in the Teatro Fru Fru.As an actress, she has worked with directors like Nancy Cárdenas or Arturo Ripstein.
She has also worked in Mexican telenovelas. She won the Ariel prize for her roles in Los motivos de Luz and La reina de la noche.
She has an acting school she runs with her sister, Marta Reyes Spíndola, in the Colonia Juárez neighborhood of Mexico City called M & M Studio, where she also teaches.

Before Night Falls is based on the autobiography of the same name by Cuban poet and novelist Reinaldo Arenas. In the film, Arenas, who was openly gay, is born in Oriente in 1943 and raised by his single mother and her parents, who soon move the entire family to Holguín. After moving to Havana in the sixties to continue his studies, Reinaldo begins to explore his ambitions, as well as his sexuality. After receiving an honorary mention in a writing contest, Arenas is offered the chance to publish his first work. Through his work and friendships with other openly gay men (such as Pepe Malas and Tomas Diego), Arenas manages to find himself.

Le film s'inspire d'un cas authentique, que l'on a appelé au Mexique l'affaire de La Fiera del Ajusco (La Médée de l'Ajusco ) : une jeune mère, pauvre et ignorante, Elvira Luz Cruz, originaire d'un quartier proche du volcan Ajusco, au sud de Mexico, est arrêtée pour l'assassinat de ses quatre enfants, le 12 août 1982. En septembre 1984, au cours d'un procès entaché d'irrégularités, la jeune femme est alors condamnée à vingt-huit ans de prison par la Cour supérieure de justice de son district.
