Quincy Jones III, alias QD III, est un producteur (de cinéma et de musique) et compositeur américain, né le 23 décembre 1968 à Londres (Royaume-Uni). Il est le fils du trompettiste, arrangeur et compositeur Quincy Jones et le mannequin et actrice suédoise Ulla Andersson Jones.

Il est le producteur de plusieurs célèbres rappeurs dont, entre autres, Ice Cube, Tupac Shakur, Yo-Yo ou encore Justin Warfield.

Le film suit Lil Wayne avant et après la sortie de l'album Tha Carter III, dans la perspective du cinéma direct, sans aucune interview du rappeur. Bien que celui-ci ait donné son accord pour le film, il tenta d'en bloquer la sortie après avoir vu la première projection au festival du film de Sundance 2009. Cette réaction était due au fait qu'on l'y voit consommer de la marijuana et du sirop à la codéine en grandes quantités. En dépit de son action en justice, le film est sorti le 17 novembre 2009 aux États-Unis en DVD et au téléchargement. Il a atteint la tête des iTunes movie charts pour sa première semaine et le Huffington Post l'a appelé « un des cinq meilleurs documentaires de hip-hop de tous les temps ».

Pootie Tang, born in "a small town outside Gary, Indiana", is portrayed as a ladies' man who is "too cool for words", even as a young child. His life is marked by the deaths of his mother "Momma Dee", and shortly thereafter his father "Daddy Tang", who dies after being mauled by a gorilla during his shift at the steel mill (the third time someone had suffered that particular fate). Just before Daddy Tang's death, Pootie inherits his father's belt and is told that (as long as he has right on his side) he can "whoop anyone's ass with just that belt."

In Los Angeles, two rival gang leaders are also trying to be music producers. When DJ's (Mack 10) equipment shorts out and Lonzo (Fat Joe) is cut out of the action by a record producer, the two join forces, which also requires a tentative peace between gangs.
