Robert Lawrence Crawford, Jr. (born May 13, 1944, Quantico, Virginia) is an American actor who portrayed the character Andy Sherman on the NBC television series Laramie in 1959, 1960, and 1962. He was cast as the younger brother of Slim Sherman, portrayed by John Smith, owner of the fictitious Sherman Ranch and Relay Station some twelve miles east of Laramie, Wyoming. Their co-star was Robert Fuller in the role of former gunfighter Jess Harper. Crawford is sometimes credited as Bobby Crawford, Jr., or without the generational suffix as Bobby Crawford or Robert L. Crawford.

Their father, also named Robert Crawford and occasionally referred to as Robert Crawford, Sr., was a well-known, Emmy-nominated film editor and occasional actor, who portrayed Detective Phil Burns on the syndicated television series, Manhunt.

Before and after Laramie, Crawford appeared in some two dozen film and television productions. His television guest appearances included Walt Disney family adventure series Zorro, The Californians, The Donna Reed Show, National Velvet, Jack Webb's crime drama Dragnet, Combat!, Mr. Novak, Rawhide, Cheyenne, and Gunsmoke.

Andy Farmer (Chase) is a New York City sports writer who moves with his wife, Elizabeth (Smith) to the seemingly charming town of Redbud, Vermont, so he can write a novel. They do not get along well with the residents, and other quirks arise such as being given exorbitant funeral bills for a long-dead man buried on their land years before they acquired the house. Marital troubles soon arise from the quirkiness of Redbud as well as the fact that Elizabeth was critical of Andy's manuscript, while secretly getting her ideas for children's books published. They soon decide to divorce and sell their home. To expedite the sale, the Farmers offer the town's residents a $15,000 donation to Redbud, and $50 cash each if they help make a good impression on their prospective home buyers. To that end, the citizens remake Redbud into a perfect Norman Rockwell-style town. Their charade dazzles a pair of prospective buyers, who make the Farmers an offer on the house; however, Andy declines to sell, realizing that he genuinely enjoys small-town living. He and Elizabeth decide to stay together in Redbud, much to the chagrin of the locals, who are now angry that they lost their promised money. Though the mayor does not hold the Farmers liable for the $15,000, as the sale of their house did not occur, Andy decides to pay everyone in Redbud their $50, which helps improve his standing among the townspeople. The film ends with Andy taking a job as a sports writer for the Redbud newspaper, and Elizabeth, now pregnant with their first child, has written multiple children's stories.

Lauren King (Diane Lane) is a book-smart 13-year-old American girl with an IQ of 167 living in Paris with her affluent family. She spends her free time reading Heidegger. Daniel Michon (Thelonious Bernard) is a street-wise 13-year-old French boy who lives in La Garenne with his father, a cabbie. He loves Hollywood films and amuses himself handicapping theoretical wagers on horse races. The two meet in the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, where a movie is being filmed, and fall in love. Lauren's self-absorbed mother (Sally Kellerman), who consorts openly with her movie director boyfriend George in front of Lauren and her stepfather (Arthur Hill), fiercely objects to the romance, calling Daniel a "filthy French boy". When Daniel punches George at Lauren's birthday party for making a crude innuendo about Lauren, the two are forbidden to date.
