Acting mainly in comedy films, he rose to fame following his performances in the Venkat Prabhu directorials Chennai 600028 and Saroja, before also featuring in Thamizh Padam.

Shiva (Shiva) is a dubbing artist and a person who is not happy with love and marriages. His dream is to buy a Volkswagen car for himself. But his mother (Meera Krishnan) forces him by blackmailing him to marry and he finally accepts without satisfaction. The girl is Anjali (Vasundhara Kashyap) who is revealed to be a devotional girl and is a press reporter. When the marriage of one of Shiva's friends takes place, both Anjali and Shiva are invited. Anjali is invited because the friend was forced by Shiva in order to stop their marriage. But in that marriage, Shiva gets to know that Anjali is the exact opposite of what he thought she was, and that Anjali herself wanted to stop their marriage. They finally break up and they make their parents also accept (Shiva lied to Anjali's father that he got hurt during cricket match and Anjali cooks up a plot claiming that she became pregnant).

Pasupathy (Shiva) is a go lucky guy who wanders without any purpose. He is living with his younger sister Kavitha (Monisha) and house maid Senthamarai (Kovai Sarala) who is a part-time liquor seller in black market. Pasupathy's sister is in love with his close friend Mano (Soori) which Pasupathy is not aware. His friend indirectly tries to convey that matter to him to which he does not understand. Pasupathy has a maternal uncle (Ilavarasu) who is a lawyer and their care taker since their parents died. Pasupathy loses his house to a bank on a surety crisis which involved his father. Hence he is compelled to settle in job. Pasupathy's uncle applies for an opening in his friend's mineral water company 'Classique' for marketing head post. He gives many instructions about the owner Sivagurunathan (Prakash Raj) who is an ardent devotee of Lord Murugan and who is against recommendations. Pasupathy manages to get job by dressing in a simple Gandhian manner, faking as a Murugan devotee and tells he follows very valuable principles written in the book of Sivagurnathan himself which attracts Sivagurunathan.

Two friends Ramarajan (Mirchi Siva) and Rajkiran (Santhanam), who for reasons unknown prefer to call themselves Dhoni and Sehwag. They have nothing better to do than hang around together boozing and teasing pretty girls. Dhoni does not believe in the idea of working, but is still in search of a government job, knowing very well that he is not likely to get it. Kanaka (Sandhya), a police constable, is the daughter of Dhoni’s maternal uncle, and though their families want them to marry neither is interested. Meanwhile, Dhoni while going for an interview meets and falls in love with Seetha (Dhansika). So impressed is he by her that when he meets the ugly looking buck toothed local councillor Aishwarya (Devadarshini), who has promised him a job, he hugs her and declares his undying love for her, believing her to be Seetha. Though he apologizes to her, the much older Devadarshini is now very much in love with Dhoni and is determined to marry him. She gives money to Sehwag so that he separates the love of Dhoni and Seetha. Sehwag arranges friends of Dhoni's sister to pose as his lover to separate him. Seetha believes this rumour and breakup with him. Dhoni blames Seetha as "accused no1" who cheated him. Then Dhoni comes to know that it was the plan of Sehwag to separate him, he breaks his friendship with him. Aishwarya's fat brothers records the speech of Sehwag scolding Aishwarya in an inebriated state. In the early morning, Dhoni attends the marriage of Kanaka. Dhoni is shocked that Sehwag is the marriage groom. Seetha still mistakes Dhoni as a womaniser when she sees the same girl coming out misunderstanding. Girl tells all the truth to Dhoni about the plan which was overheard by Seetha. Aishwarya tries to kidnap Seetha but instead she gets kidnapped by Beerpal (Srinivasan) who mistaking her to be Seetha in order to take revenge on her for rejecting his love. After the marriage, Dhoni scolds Seetha alone himself for loving him then Seetha arrives at that place and again misunderstands him, she urges him to commit suicide. Varadharajan is searching for Dhoni who disappeared from home. Seetha is feeling guilty for his disappearance and also thinks that he might have committed suicide. Dhoni arrives at their home saying he disappeared from home to conduct the marriage of Aishwarya and Beerpal. The film ends with Dhoni and Sehwag uniting with their lovers happily.

Ashwin Kumar (Jiiva) is a photojournalist working for the private newspaper Dina Anjal. He witnesses Naxalites robbing a local bank. He chases them and manages to click photos of the robbers. When he tries to escape, he is stopped by a young woman Renuka 'renu' (Karthika Nair) who assumes he is the culprit and helps the robbers to take his camera. However, he is able to secure the memory card of the camera. The police catch him, and to prove that he is a press photographer, he shows the photos to the them, who identify everyone except the gang leader (whose face is covered by a mask). At his office, he again meets Renuka, who has newly joined as Article Editor. Saraswathi 'saro' (Piaa Bajpai) also works in his office and has feelings for Ashwin, who does not reciprocate.

The story opens in a village where male infanticide is predominant, and all male babies are required to be killed immediately after birth. One such baby is headed for such a fate, until he "speaks" to his caretaker-grandmother (Paravai Muniyamma) and asks to be sent to Chennai on a goods train, where he plans to grow into a hero. The film begins with murder of Swetha a college student which is considered as accident. The scene shifts to college. Anjali (Gayathri Raguram) & Jeeva (Vikramaditya Shukla) are college lovebirds. Maya (Sherin) has a crush on Jeeva. They along with their friends spend happy days in college. One day, Vinod is murdered by Naga which is witnessed by Anjali. But no one believes her. Subsequently two other friends are murdered by Naga. In the fear, Anjali reveals the past to Maya that during the school days how the six members ragged a village girl, Sarawathi (Divyadarshini) and she committed suicide of six, four are murdered. She thinks the murders are related to the incidents. In the turn of events, it is shown that Jeeva is the murderer. On the same night, Sharmi is murdered before Anjali by Naga. Later, it is revealed the actual murderer is Maya who is the sister of Sarawathi. Later, Jeeva saves Anjali and Maya is killed. The comedy track of the movie follows the theme of the Hollywood movie What Women Want.
