Kavitha Ranjini, known by stage name Urvashi, is an Indian film actress and producer.

Ranjini was a prominent lead actress from 1983 to 1999. She has written the films Ulsavamelam and Pidakkozhi Koovunna Noottandu, the latter was also produced by her. She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Achuvinte Amma (2005). She has won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress six times, which includes three consecutive wins from 1989 to 1991.

Biography

Urvashi was born in Trivandrum, Kerala to actor Chavara V. P. Nair and Vijayalakshmi. Her elder sisters are actresses Kalaranjini and Kalpana. Her two brothers, Kamal Roy and Late Prince had also acted in few Malayalam movies. Prince (Nandu of Layanam fame) committed suicide at a young age of 17. She had her primary education from Fort Girl's Mission High School, Thiruvananthapuram till fourth grade and later at Corporation Higher Secondary School, Kodambakkam till ninth grade when the family shifted to Chennai. She couldn't continue her studies since she became busy with her movie career by then.

Urvashi married film actor Manoj K Jayan on 11 October 2000. They have a daughter Tejalakshmi born in 2001. After divorce from her first husband Manoj K Jayan in 2008, Urvasi married Chennai based builder Sivaprasad on November 2013. The couple was blessed with a boy on August 2014, named Ishaan Prajapathi

Manoranjan (Kamal Haasan) is a leading film star who is immensely popular among his fans; however, he is beset with several personal problems. The story starts with Karthik, a young advocate (Vijay Antony) at the shopping centre Landmark. A young girl introduces herself as a software engineer and chooses the same film DVD as Karthik. A romantic film called "Kadhaluku Mariyadhai" (Respect for true love). Karthik ends up with a crush on the girl and reveals it to his friend Das. His friend Das (Jagan) who is a house agent helps Karthik settle down in a place that he calls his office. He finds out that he has to share his "office" with another young lady advocate Melina (Sushma Raj). Karthik is surprised to see that this is the same girl he had met at Landmark and introduced herself as an engineer. He accuses her of cheating him but she calls herself "a student passed in merit" and teases him of "passing in attempt". They argue with each other and end up in an agreement that whoever is able to handle a case first gets the whole office to themselves. Das sends Dina to be a handy helper to Melina and Karthik who end up fighting as to who Dina has to attend to first.Melina and Karthik put efforts to find a case and end up in embarrassing and foolish situations. An old couple seeks Karthik's justice for divorce but Melina locks him up in his room and goes to enquire the old couple's case. But Karthik gets out with Dina's help and rushes to enquire intervening Melina. They start fighting and end up in losing the case.

The story starts off in Mumbai with Chota Nayak (Kabir Duhan Singh) escaping from police custody. Once out, he looks out for his aide-turned-foe Ranganath (Brahmaji). Jai (Gopichand) is a fire officer who happens to help Ranganath, not knowing that the latter is the former right-hand man of Mumbai don Nayak. He turns informer and runs away with the money of Nayak. Nayak suspects Jai to be an accomplice of Ranganath and starts troubling him. This brings them to Hyderabad where he meets Savitri (Rashi Khanna) and it is love at first sight for both. Just as their romance begins, Nayak traces Jai and from then on it is open war between them. Nayak threatens to kill whoever is close to Jay and he keeps his word. He kills Jai's uncle in a fire accident after which Jai kills Nayak's brother. After which, Jai send his family far away to keep them safe but Savithri, unaware of Nayak's presence, talks to him openly. Nayak then captures Savithri and threatens to kill her if Jai does not handover the money. Jai comes to realization as to where the money is and rifles through Ranganath's jacket where he finds a book containing the bank account and password where the money is located. Jai calls Nayak and they meet at a deserted market for the exchange but it goes wrong when a police officer tries killing Nayak and Jai saves Nayak to the dismay of the police officer. Meanwhile Nayak gains access to the bank account and sees it to be empty. All the money had been transferred to the dying Savithri's account. Nayak tries reviving Savithri in a building under construction. Jai arrives and sets fire to the building. After which there is a bloody and violent battle between Nayak and Jai.

Kalidasa (Prakash Rai) works in the state archaeological department and is a food lover, he is 45 years old and remains unmarried. His only companion is his cook, Krishna (Thambi Ramaiah). Naveen (Tejus) is Kalidasa's nephew who comes to stay with him, while looking for a job. Kalidasan has a normal life until he gets a mis-dialled phone call from Gowri (Sneha), a dubbing artiste living with her friend Meghana (Samyukta Hornad). Gowri rings to order a Dosa from a restaurant, but gets Kalidasan instead. Their conversations do not go well at first, but a long-distance romance develops due to their common interest—cooking and food. Kalidasan is a born gourmet while Gowri is indulging in culinary activities in memory of her dead mother. The film opens with a lady coming to India from Malaysia . She takes a taxi and wants to go to Brahma's place. The driver then starts telling her about Brahma's life. The movie goes into a flashback. In 1970, Veer Brahma(Nassar) kills two rich men.Then his wife gives birth to a son. The movie then comes back in 2014, ACP Shinde(Sayaji Shinde) is handed the case of Brahma. Pranitha comes and tells her story - Pranitha(Pranitha Subhash) is a girl from Malasyia. She lives with her parents in Malasyia .She saw Brahma(Upendra) helping a beggar. After some events she falls in love with Brahma. Then Lucky man, (Rangayana Raghu) a millionaire is also fooled by Brahma. In Malasyia Bramha killed a international don named Rahul Dev(Rahul Dev). Now we see that Brahma is a Don. Brahma goes to loot his house. There Brahma is living with a new name, Upendra. He works in his father's house. Then we see some comedies of Sadhu(Sadhu Kokila), who is the leader of the servants in the house. Then Pranitha and Lucky man comes in that house. One day Brahma is caught by ACP Shinde in that house. Then Brahma's grandfather reveals their past. In 1600 BC A warrior named Brahma (Upendra again) is very kind to poor. He gives all his wealth to the poor. But in 1950, their family becomes very poor. Then Veer Brahma says that he will take all the wealth his grandfather gave to others. Then Bramha is taken to court and he is sentenced to 2 years in jail. There, his father apologizes to him. After two years, Bramha is now the chief minister of Karnataka. The Lady came to kill Brahma but she did not succeed in killing him. She is the wife of Rahul Dev. The movie ends with Upendra saying, "Jo janta ko chodkar dourta hai woh leader nehi ho ta, Jo janta ko sath lekar dourta hai wahi ho ta hai leader." In English, this means, "Which man runs without the public he is not a leader, but he who runs with the public he is the leader.
