Tzavalas Karousos (Greek: Τζαβαλάς Καρούσος; September 8, 1904 – January 3, 1969) was a Greek actor.
He was born in Lefkada and first acted in the theatre by the Veakis-Nezer (Nesser) theatrical company. With theatrical studies in France and other European countries, he played at the National Theatre during the golder period of Fotos Politis, after the war, he took part at the theatrical company and used with the actions of the Greek Folklore Theatre with Manos Katrakis.
He first acted in the National Theatre and succeeded Aimilios Veakis, Karoussos moved and substantially entered agonistically for a democratic idea. He switched almost to the modern Greek work and first starred in many Greek movies (I zavoliara, Orgi, Antigone, Anthropos yia oles tis doulies, Faidra, etc.) His tole which made hin the Shylock in The Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare, he later finished his acting careed due to the dictatorship, he last appeared at the Piraeus Public Theatre. He left for Paris.

Un boucher de la rue Athinas, Diamantis Karanampasis, décide d'acheter le penthouse au sommet d'un immeuble de huit étages dans le quartier chic de Kolonáki, au grand dam de ses snobs habitants. Ceux-ci, menés par les Aspromallis (employés du ministère des Affaires étrangères) et les de la Sibelas (des aristocrates ruinés), sont très mesquins. Seul le vieux général, héros de la campagne d'Albanie, Stefanos Koutsomitros, prend la défense de Karanampasis (qui lui a sauvé la vie pendant la guerre). Le général réussit à convaincre les autres habitants que leur attitude est indigne. La famille du boucher est alors acceptée dans l'immeuble. C'est alors que le fils de Karanampasis et la fille de Koutsomitros tombent amoureux.

Thanos, un berger, rentre d'Allemagne où il n'a pas réussi à trouver du travail. Il rêve de repartir, pour l'Australie. Un de ses copains d'enfance lui égorge ses bêtes pour l'obliger à rester tant que lui n'a pas fini son service militaire. Katina, sa mère veut le garder auprès de lui et a donc essayé d'arranger son mariage avec Despina. Mais, le père de Despina, Vlahopoulos, le patron de Thanos, refuse de donner sa fille à Thanos. Il veut une famille plus riche pour sa fille. Thanos se révolte alors contre la société rurale provinciale et entraîne Despina avec lui. Les amants sont rattrapés et tués.
