Sooraj (Sooraj Pancholi) is a gangster from Mumbai who meets Radha (Athiya Shetty), daughter of city's Chief of Police during a party . Sooraj, under instructions from his gangster father, Pasha (Aditya Pancholi), kidnaps Radha because Radha's father brought evidence against Pasha in court, and kidnaps Radha in the guise of a police officer, by telling her that he received instructions from the police to take her away from city as there is a threat that Pasha and his gang will kidnap Radha unless they move for some time. During these days they slowly fall in love. One day the police tracks them and Sooraj and Radha escape but Sooraj is shot in the arm when trying to jump over a broken bridge and they both fall in water . Later they are rescued by a group of monks but it is said that Radha and Sooraj are dead to Radha's father. Sooraj is unconscious . After a couple of days Sooraj is conscious when Radha tells about her love to him. Later he confesses to Radha that he had kidnapped her. Radha has however fallen in love with Sooraj. Radha tells Sooraj to surrender and Sooraj is sent to jail for 2 years . During that time Radha's brother Dheeraj (Sharad Kelkar) asks her to go to Paris .

In a Gujarati village, Ranjaar, infamous for its uninhibited manufacture and sale of arms and ammunition (weapons are sold like vegetables at the place), two clans, Rajadi and Sanera, have been at odds with each other for the past 500 years. The film opens with a violent altercation between the two over petty matters. Meghji (Abhimanyu Singh), a Rajadi head, sets out to kill Bhavani (Gulshan Devaiah) who is a Sanera, after the latter tries to kill the former's son. Bhavani is almost killed but Ram (Ranveer Singh), Meghji's younger brother, intervenes and saves him, only to be reprimanded by Meghji. All the Rajadi elders are irked by Ram's mindset of making truce with the other clan.

Late at night on a deserted road, well-known actor Armaan Kapoor (Vivan Bhatena) loses control of his car for no evident reason, apparently trying to avoid something, and drives into the sea. Chak De! India opens in Delhi during the final minutes of a fictional Hockey World Cup match between Pakistan and India, with Pakistan leading 1–0. When Indian team captain Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) is fouled, he takes a penalty stroke. His shot just misses, costing India the match. Soon afterwards, media outlets circulate a photograph of Khan shaking hands with the Pakistani captain.
