Volker Lechtenbrink (born August 18, 1944 in Cranz, Germany [Ostpreußen]) is a German television actor and singer.

Lechtenbrink grew up in Hamburg and Bremen and started his career at the age of 15 acting in the Oscar-nominated anti-war movie The Bridge (1959) by director Bernhard Wicki. After finishing school he was educated at the Schauspielschule (drama school) Hamburg, also acting and later working as a stage director at the Ernst Deutsch Theater, Hamburg. Between 2004, he worked as the intendant of that stage. Between 1995 and 1997, he was also intendant of Bad Hersfeld Festival. He acted in several German television productions during the last decades, including Der Kommissar, Derrick, Der Alte, Tatort, Ein Fall für zwei and some Rosamunde Pilcher films. In 2006, he played one of the leading roles in the short-lived television series M.E.T.R.O. – Ein Team auf Leben und Tod.

He synchronizes the German voice of Kris Kristofferson and Dennis Quaid.

Next to his work as an actor he also started a very successful career as a singer and songwriter during the 1970s and 1980s, with songs like Der Macher and Ich mag. He also wrote the lyrics to the song Rücksicht, performed by the duo Hoffmann & Hoffmann at the Eurovision Song Contest 1983, placing 5th in a field of 20.

In the closing days of World War II, a small German town comes into focus as American forces advance in its direction. In the town's school, seven boys—each about 16 years old—are oblivious to the seriousness and dangers of the war, feeling excitement about how close the fighting is getting to them, and they live their lives as normally as they can, though they are overshadowed with personal problems: Karl, who has a crush on his hairstylist father's young assistant, is shocked to see them in an intimate situation; Klaus is oblivious to the affections of his classmate Franziska; and Walter is deeply resentful of his father, the local Nazi Party Ortsgruppenleiter, who has chosen to save his own skin under the pretense of an important Volkssturm meeting. Jürgen is the son of a German officer who has been killed in action, and hopes to live up to his father's reputation.
