Willy Prager (né le 23 mai 1877 à Kattowitz, mort le 4 mars 1956 à Berlin) est un acteur et scénariste allemand.

Biography

Il commence sa carrière en 1898 dans le théâtre berlinois de variétés Quargs. En 1909, il a des cachets dans des cabarets comme ceux de Rudolf Nelson et des théâtres plus prestigieux comme le Deutsches Theater de Berlin sous la direction de Max Reinhardt. En 1925, il vient à un registre comique dans le cabaret Schall und Rauch.

Il commence sa carrière au cinéma avec Max Reinhardt. Au début du cinéma parlant, il participe aux scénarios de quelques comédies.

Quand les nazis prennent le pouvoir, Prager est écarté à cause de rumeurs sur son appartenance politique puis interdit de jouer. D'origine juive, il vit dans la clandestinité. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il revient au théâtre et au cinéma.

Peter, a woodsman and his mother live in the Black Forest where he exists by selling charcoal. Stung by the ridicule of the wealthier inhabitants of the village and desiring to marry the beautiful Lisbeth, he sees his only chance for prosperity by locating a good forest spirit, the small Glasmännlein who grants him two wishes at first, then a third wish later. Peter wishes for wealth that he purchases a glassworks but due to his inexperience the glassworks fails and he gambles his money away.

As the end of the Second World War approaches and the Soviet Red Army is advancing, a group of concentration camp inmates is helped to escape by a Polish doctor. They hide in a wood where they meet other fugitives, who have been there for months, constantly in fear of being discovered. Out of fear of the German army patrols, they do not dare to leave the forest, even as the food supplies run low. The Polish doctor blows up a bridge, attracting the German troops' attention to the forest. The soldiers come perilously close to the hidden fugitives, but in the last moment have to retreat before the approaching Red Army units.

Actor Hans Wieland refuses to divorce his actress wife, Elisabeth, who is Jewish, even as extreme pressure is applied on him by the Nazi authorities. He even takes her to a premiere of one of his films where she is unwittingly introduced to a high Nazi Party official. Upon later discovering that the charming woman at the premiere was in fact Jewish, he orders her arrest. Hans Wieland is given an ultimatum by his former friend Herbert Blohm, now a Nazi official at the Reichskulturministerium (culture ministry), to save himself by divorcing his wife. Knowing that his wife will die in a concentration camp, Hans Wieland returns home and they drink poison in coffee whilst reciting the closing scene of Friedrich Schiller's tragic play Kabale und Liebe together.

Un mystérieux tueur est en liberté dans la ville, il a assassiné plusieurs femmes. De nombreux indices mènent vers un certain King-Fu que la police suspecte fortement.
