A family is dislocated when small failings become extravagant lies. The film opens as a wealthy businessman, Servet, running a campaign for the upcoming election, is driving in his car alone and sleepy, struggling to keep his eyes open. Ali and Reşat bring their father Ahmet who is suffering from brain cancer for chemotherapy treatment in Istanbul. Unable to bear the treatment and thinking himself to be a burden, Ahmet runs away from the hospital and manages to reach a home for elders. The residents believe him to be abandoned by his children and take him in. Ali and Reşat find him but decide to let him stay when they see that he is happy there. They learn the stories and backgrounds of each of the elders. Two of them, Yaşar and Nebahat have fallen in love and plan to get married. Ahmet arrangers for a big wedding and invites them to his home village in Diyarbakır for their honeymoon together with all the other elders.

When the devastating Kocaeli earthquake occurs, the Turkish government passes a special law allowing people to complete their military service in a month. Many make use of this law including Murat (a factory owner), Ömer (a factory worker), Gökhan Özoğuz (frontman of the ska-punk band Athena), Nihat (who lost his family in the earthquake), Can (who was rejected by the army for being overweight), Levent (a thespian), Australian Turk Hüseyin and his son Seyfi Paul, Laptop Recep. They join those who are already at the base: Captain Volkan Ateş (the commanding officer) and Karlıdağ (who is on extended service due to indiscipline).
