Alliance Films (formerly Alliance Entertainment, Alliance Communications, Alliance Atlantis Releasing LTD or CIC Canada and also known as Alliance VivaFilm in Quebec) was a major Canadian motion picture distribution/production company, which had served Canada, the United Kingdom, and Spain. It is part of the Entertainment One group and has been folded into eOne due to the January 9, 2013 acquisition. It was one of the major motion picture distribution/production companies to distribute independent films outside the United States.

Will Francis (Jude Law), a young Englishman, is a landscape architect living a detached, routine-based life in London with his Swedish-American girlfriend Liv (Robin Wright Penn) and her autistic daughter Bea. The 13-year-old girl's irregular sleeping and eating habits as well as her unsocial behaviour (she has trouble relating to people and seems only interested in doing somersaults and gymnastics) reach worrying proportions and start to put a lot of strain on Will and Liv's relationship. Complicating the situation further is his feeling of being shut out of their inner circle since Bea is not his biological daughter. He and Liv start relationship counselling, but their drifting apart continues.

Frank Abernathy is the curator of the natural history museum in Blackwater, Louisiana. He is a widower who doesn't seem to have time for his daughter, Jack. Frank's father, Simon, is a B-movie enthusiast who believes in extraterrestrials and shows his favorite movies at the local theater. The city loses its electrical power just as Simon, Jack and her boyfriend Squirrelly exit the theater. They watch an object streaking through the sky and crashing into the museum. Thought to be a meteorite, they later find out it is a craft containing an alien lifeform. Trying to adapt to the Earth's atmosphere, it latches on to the first organism it finds - the museum's most notable exhibit, a frozen Wooly mammoth.

Cinq ans après les évènements du premier film, Karmina et sa famille de vampire sont retournés en Transylvanie. Vlad est resté au Québec tout comme Ghislain Chabot. C'est lui qui s'occupe de confectionner la potion qui les rend humain et il l'envoie en Transylvanie. Mais, lorsqu'il vient juste de finir sa recette, sa femme Linda commence à le presser de la transformer en vampire. Ghislain refuse parce que la loi ne lui permet pas. Elle décide donc de mettre un terme à leur relation le laissant dehors, sans potion et sans le grimoire qui contient la recette. Elle est bien décidée à tuer Vlad qui a transformé son mari en vampire . De son côté, Ghislain trouve refuge chez Vlad où il découvre que celui-ci usurpe son identité pour faire fonctionner un commerce et pour des activités illicites. Julie Cazavant enquête sur ces activités et découvre que Vlad a des relations criminelles avec Proulx. Pendant ce temps, la pénurie de potion se fait sentir en Transylvanie.
