Le film Kalank se situe en 1945 dans une Inde pré-indépendante, où le monde solennel, élitiste et opulent de la famille Chaudhry, et celui de Hira Mandi, le quartier pauvre, sauvage, mystérieux et musical de la ville, s’affrontent lorsque Roop Chaudhry rencontre Zafar, forgeron casse-cou, bagarreur et coureur de jupons. De nombreuses vérités cachées commencent à se dévoiler à mesure que les tensions communautaires augmentent et que la partition se rapproche. Roop a contracté un mariage de raison avec Dev Chaudhry à la demande de Satya, sa femme mourante. Zafar est le demi-frère illégitime de Dev, et ne vit que pour se venger de son père qui l’a rejeté et est également responsable de son abandon par sa mère. Roop tombe éperdument amoureuse de Zafar qui, bien que s’étant rapproché d’elle pour servir sa vengeance, finit, sans vouloir l’admettre, par partager ses sentiments. Ils se retrouvent pris sur le champ de bataille de l'amour pendant que toute la ville est à feu et à sang. La question est de savoir si cet amour fou s’éteindra dans le rouge de la violence ou s’épanouira dans celui de l’amour.

Anjaana Anjaani is the story of Kiara (Priyanka Chopra) and Akash (Ranbir Kapoor). Kiara is based in San Francisco, while Akash is a New York City boy. Akash has to clear a loan of $12 million, which he is unable to partly due to the stock market crash. Unable to find any means, suicide seems the only option. He decides to jump off the George Washington Bridge. This is when he meets Kiara, who is also bound to commit suicide because she caught her fiancé Kunal (Zayed Khan) cheating on her. They both try to put an end to their lives but are deterred by the coastguards. Still keen on ending their lives, Akash deliberately gets hit by a car and Kiara falls on the bridge and breaks her neck. This proves to be yet another failed attempt and they end up in the hospital together. Kiara takes Akash to her house as his house was seized by the bank.

Although at first Hetal is displeased with Aarush's presence, he proves to be a kind-hearted man looking for family. Bob and Hetal decide to get him married to their boss' daughter, Devika Samtani (Jiah Khan). After the marriage, on their honeymoon in Italy, Devika leaves him for her long-time American boyfriend Benny. Aarush decides to commit suicide by drowning in the sea but is saved by a Telugu girl Sandy (Deepika Padukone), who he kissed when she was trying to make him breathe.
