Synopsis
Le sergent William Gray a des ennuis constamment au camp d'entraînement à cause de ses blagues. Bien qu'il ne pense pas gagner, Gray parie avec le sergent du mess qu'il sera invité à petit déjeuner par l'officier commandant le camp, le Général Dodge. Plus tard, Gray rencontre Peggy, la fille du général, et ils tombent amoureux l'un de l'autre. Lorsque la compagnie de Gray obtient une permission de 23h30, il met un uniforme neuf fait par un tailleur pour rencontrer Peggy. Comme c'est contraire au règlement, l'officier de sortie lui ordonne de l'enlever. Le reste de la compagnie est lui aussi habillé contrairement au règlement et ils doivent tous enlever leur uniforme. Alors qu'ils grelottent dans leurs sous-vêtements, les hommes accusent Gray d'en être responsable. Gray s'enfuit du camp, rencontre Peggy, et arrive à capturer des espions ennemis près du camp. Le général lui fait des louanges pour son acte héroïque et Gray gagne à la fois son pari et la main de Peggy.Actors

As described in a film magazine review, Sebastian Dore (Dearholt) is mysteriously murdered in front of his home, and his beautiful wife Liane (Kane) vows revenge on the murderer. To this end she becomes a German spy for Karl, Prince von Kondermarck (MacLean), but the two fall in love. At the outbreak of war Karl is called to Germany, and Liane opens her home to wounded French soldiers. She accidentally learns that Karl is the murderer of her husband and plans to turn him over to the police. Before he leaves, Karl produces letters showing that Sebastian had betrayed his sister, and explains that Sebastian was accidentally shot in a struggle. Liane and Karl escape together on his yacht.

Les concierges d'un hôtel de New York près de Times Square refusent des chambres à divers clients jusqu'à ce qu'ils acceptent le millionnaire John Stonehouse et lui donnent la chambre 420. Alors qu'il tente de se suicider, John entend un coup de feu provenant d'une chambre voisine. Il y trouve Gilberte Bonheur penchée sur le corps d'Aaron Witt sur qui, dit-elle, elle a tiré lorsqu'il a essayé de l'attaquer. John, qui veut mourir de toute façon, offre d'endosser le crime. Il s'échappe après avoir pris une émeraude que Witt utilisait pour faire chanter Gilberte. John aide Gilberte à cacher Witt, avec la complicité des concierges. Ce dernier revient à lui et demande qu'on lui rende l'émeraude ou sa valeur. John lui fait un chèque et part, en emportant un billet de théâtre que lui a donné Gilberte.

La famille Riggs, devenue riche grâce au pétrole de l'Oklahoma, déménage pour une propriété à Ossining (New York), voisine de celle de Stephen Van Courtlandt, un célibataire endurci. M Riggs, qui veut faire partie de la bonne société, voudrait que sa fille épouse Stephen. Alors que celui-ci est en train de pêcher, Chimmy le Cricket, qui vient de s'évader de Sing Sing le convainc d'échanger avec lui ses vêtements afin qu'il puisse échapper aux gardiens qui le poursuivent. Stephen, poursuivi à sa place, entre par la fenêtre dans la chambre de Barbara et celle-ci, excitée à l'idée de remettre un criminel dans le droit chemin, lui donne les vêtements du maître d'hôtel. Lorsque M Riggs entre, Stephen explique qui il est en réalité, mais elle dit qu'ils doivent annoncer leurs fiançailles immédiatement afin de protéger la réputation de Barbara, ce qu'ils font, bien que Barbara croie toujours que Stephen est un prisonnier en fuite. Après que Stephen est suspecté d'avoir volé les bijoux de M Riggs, Cricket aide Stephen à confondre le vrai voleur et Barbara et Stephen, qui sont tombés amoureux, se préparent au mariage.

In 1946, Margie (Jeanne Crain) is a housewife reminiscing about her high school days with her own teenage daughter, who has just discovered her mother's old photo album in the attic. In a flashback to the 1920s, Margie is a high-spirited girl living with her dominant but good-hearted Grandmother McSweeney (Esther Dale). Her mother has died and her father (Hobart Cavanaugh), the local mortician, lives apart from Margie and her grandmother, only visiting on Wednesday due to his busy work schedule, and sometimes not even staying long enough to see his daughter. The youngest girl in her class, Margie does very well at her schoolwork, but she is not socially adept and wears old-fashioned clothing, including bloomers that frequently fall down. By contrast, her pretty and fashionable neighbor Marybelle Tenor (Barbara Lawrence) wears short skirts and lipstick and dates the popular but dimwitted captain of the football team, Johnny Green (Conrad Janis). Margie secretly has a crush on Johnny, but he regards her as a "pain in the neck". When Margie meets the handsome new French teacher at her high school, Professor Ralph Fontayne (Glenn Langan), she becomes even more smitten with him, and he seems to take an interest in her as well. Meanwhile, Margie's bumbling classmate Roy Hornsdale (Alan Young) is in love with her, and constantly attempts to court her despite her disinterest in him.
