Synopsis
Hiver 1985. Un groupe d'enfants, composé de Koldo (Christian Casas), Peti (Roger Babià), Tito (Pau Poch), Eugenio (Daniel Casadellà) et Moni (Ivana Baquero), la seule fille du groupe, trouve une femme, habillée en Père Noël, piégée dans un trou dans les bois. Lorsqu'ils vont au poste de police pour donner l'alerte, ils découvrent que la femme est une dangereuse criminelle, Rebeca Expósito (Maru Valdivieso), ayant dérobé deux millions de pesetas et recherchée pour braquage de banque. Les enfants prennent la décision de ne pas la laisser sortir du trou tant qu'elle ne leur donnera pas son butin. Cependant, une fois qu'elle leur a donné l'argent, et par peur des représailles, ils ne libèrent pas leur prisonnière; après des jours de privation et d'emprisonnement dans la forêt, la voleuse meurt.Actors

The story takes place in 1851 and deals with a small Spanish village apparently plagued by what we would now call a serial killer, as corpses are discovered bearing both savage mutilation and precise surgical incisions. Clues point toward Manuel Romasanta (Julian Sands), who confesses to the crimes, but claims that he is a victim of lycanthropy. A scientist, Professor Philips (David Gant), argues that Romasanta suffers not from a supernatural curse but from a mental disorder.

On Christmas Eve, suburban housewife Della Myers (Kim Basinger) gets into an argument with her abusive husband Kenneth (Craig Sheffer). After putting her two children to bed, she drives to the mall to buy some wrapping paper and cards. At the mall, she can't find a parking space for a while and angrily leaves a note on the window of a car that is parked using up two parking spaces. She leaves the store as the mall is closing, and the parking lot is nearly deserted. She notices the note is gone from the 'offending' car. As she enters her own car, the car on which she had left the note pulls up behind her.

In 1965, Rosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow), a bright but somewhat naive young housewife, and Guy (John Cassavetes), her husband and a struggling actor, move into the Bramford, an antiquated New York City apartment building. Prior to Christmas break, an unnamed female student (Emily Blunt) at a Pennsylvania university uses the campus ride share board to find a ride home to Wilmington, Delaware on 23 December. She finds a ride, which turns out to be a male student (Ashton Holmes), also unnamed ("the guy" in the credits), who is also driving to his home in Wilmington. His car is old and in poor condition, with the trunk full of his possessions (he tells her he is being kicked out of his apartment). It soon becomes apparent that she is somewhat arrogant and anti-social and his attempts to start a conversation go nowhere. It also becomes apparent that he knows quite a lot about her and possibly that he does not actually live in Wilmington as he claims. He tells her that they have a philosophy class together, although she has never noticed him.
