Abhilasha (Telugu: అభిలాష, English: Desire) is a 1983 Telugu film, directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy and was produced by K.S. Rama Rao. It is the film adaptation of Yandamuri Veerendranath's novel of the same name. Chiranjeevi, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Rao Gopal Rao, and Gollapudi Maruthi Rao played vital roles. Music was scored by Ilayaraja.

Synopsis

Struggling lawyer Chiranjeevi (Chiranjeevi) lives with his roommate (Allu Aravind) and strives for removing IPC Section 302. The reason behind his determination is his father's death sentence under 302 for rape and murder, which he didn't commit.

Ravi Teja (Chiranjeevi) is an industrialist, who owns a textile company. He is a successful person in business but his personal life lacks harmony and peace. Ravi Teja is saved by Nagaraju and he plans to exchange their positions, so that his problems can be solved forever. Nagaraju agrees, and teaches madhavi, her mother, and Ravi Teja's enemies a lesson. Ravi Teja faces a strange situation of leading a thief's lifestyle. He encounters Radhika, who is also a small time thief. In the end, they both reveal their true identities and end the story on a happy note.

Madhu (Chiranjeevi) is a painter who becomes a drunkard since his wife is killed immediately after their marriage in an accident. He leads a careless life until a kid (Baby Sujitha) who is deaf and vocally challenged (dumb), enters his life. He names him Raja and takes care of him however, he doesn't stop drinking. Raja's parents are murdered by Venu (Raghuvaran) and his assistant and Raja is the witness to murder who is tried to be getting rid of by them. Geeta (Vijayashanti) meets the kid in a shopping place and mistakes him to be Madhu's son and fights with them when the kid accidentally breaks her just bought gift and later realises her mistake and comes to apologise to Madhu's house. She befriends the kid and gradually falls for Madhu. Later she comes to know that the kid is none other than her sister's (Rajyalakshmi) son and she was murdered. Madhu is accused of murder and kidnap, and is arrested by Inspector (Prabhakar). But they realise that he is not the actual killer and is released. However Venu and his assistant keep trying to kill the kid and they are almost successful when Madhu is out drunk one night but saves him in the last minute. This changes him and he gives up drinking. The rest of the story is how the villains are slain and Madhu and Geetha marry and adopt the kid.

Chiranjeevi is a downtrodden villager named Sivudu who just wants to live along in his small world with his lady love (radhika) but falls as prey to the oppressors who are wealthy and powerful who beat him almost to death and kill his lover.
