The film starts with Chandru (Sharan) marrying Priya (Asmita Sood) and on the very first night of their marriage they get separated. Dejected by this, Chandru attempts suicide several times, but in vain. He then hires a local Don (Ravishankar) and gives him a week's time to kill him. Meanwhile, Priya returns to Chandru realizing her mistakes and wants to live with him. But the don is reluctant to kill Chandru as per the contract and would not spare him. What follows is the comical twists and turns about how Chandru escapes from the don and re-unites with Priya.

The film begins with police arriving at Shivarudre Gowda's (P. Ravi Shankar) house questioning him about the killing of his daughter Aishwarya (Heeba Patel) because she ran away with the guy she loved. Chandru (Sharan) and Narayana (Chikkanna) are two friends who are the leaders of a group called Chi Thu Sangha. Chandru falls in love with Kalyani (Asmita Sood) who is a teacher at a school. Kempe Gowda(Sudeep) is a sub-inspector in a dusty village of Rona in Hubli in North Karnataka, his native, where he is adored. His bumbling colleague Pashupati(Sharan) is cheerful and always helps him with his work. A beautiful girl Kaavya (Ragini Dwivedi) comes to his village. Eventually Kempegowda and Kaavya fall in love with each other. Armugam(P. Ravi Shankar), a notorious criminal, is brought down to his knees at the local police station. Their egos clash and Armugam, who has never had to face an opposition before, decides to teach Kempegowda a lesson. He is transferred to Bangalore, after being promoted as an Inspector, where Armugam's wits run large. His sub co worker Bose employs him at the Magadi Road Police Station. The Karnataka Home Minister C Ashok is pleased with Kempegowda and appoints him in all the activities responsible for the city, and posts him as the Assistant Commissioner of Police of the Anti Kidnapping Force.As the cop begins to unearth Armugam's misdeeds, he realizes that he is up against a real challenge. In return Kempegowda kills Vaikunta (J. Karthik) Armugam's younger brother. This infuriates Armugam who begins targeting many people who are close to Kempegowda including Kaavya whom he shoots but is saved by Kempegowda and Bose who is hacked to death by Armugam's henchmen. Finally in a bid to escape the arrest warrant issued out to him, Armugam kidnaps the Tamil Nadu Home Minister's daughter. He falsely tells Kempegowda that he is going to Mangalore with her when he is actually going to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh to put the police off the track. Kempegowda and his officers pursue Armugam and his henchmen near Nellore and kills all of the henchmen. He saves the Tamil Nadu Home Minister's daughter and kills Armugam in an encounter. In the end as the post credits roll, it is revealed that Kempegowda is resigning from the police force and together he and Kaavya are going back to Hubli. They are also happily married.
