Synopsis

It is the story of rebirth of millionaire child Deepak Rai who accidentally shoots his friend, Suraj Prakash (Sanjay Khan) at the age of 10 and believing him to be dead, runs away from home. 14 years later, Deepak discovers that Suraj Prakash is not dead and decides to go back home with friend Kewal Sharma. On discovering that Deepak is a millionnaire, Kewal Sharma kills Deepak on the train journey to Deepak's home city (Anandgiri) and starts living Deepak's life. Meanwhile, the real Deepak Rai (killed) is reborn as Rekha's (Mumtaz's) brother. 5 years later, Kewal Sharma marries Rekha, who is Suraj Prakash's girlfriend. On discovering that Rekha's husband is a drunkard and a womaniser, Rekha's father dies of a heart attack and Rekha's brother (Doby, rebirth of actual Deepak Rai) comes to stay in Deepak Rai's house. Doby, aged 5 by now, knows all about the house and the estate, although he has never been there before in his present life. Suraj Prakash and friend, Inspector Darshan (Rajendra Nath) figure out the mystery behind Doby's familiarity of the place and decide to collect enough evidence against Kewal Sharma to prove him guilty of his crime of murder and deceit.

Mohini (Naina Sahu) is a medical student, and lives at home with her father Kishenlal Saxena Nazir Hussain, a college Professor, and her ailing mother. Her neighbours are Bipin (Shiv Kumar) and his parents. Bipin and his friends have just returned to their town from Bombay after completing their studies. One of Bipin's friends, Ravi Mehra (Biswajeet), is the son of a wealthy businessman, Amarchand Mehra (Sapru). Ravi and Mohini meet and fall in love. Bipin also loves Mohini but has never expressed his feelings. When Ravi leaves to go abroad for further studies, he promises he will get green bangles for her, as a symbol of marriage. However, soon after he leaves, Mohini is told by their family doctor that she is pregnant. Vilified and expelled from college, her father is her only support especially since her mother dies soon after hearing the news.

Lusty womanizer, army Captain Kishore, wants a gypsy dancer for himself, and is ready to kill anyone who tries to get in the way. But his plans are foiled when the woman kills herself, leaving behind an injured father, the head of the gypsies, and a younger sister by the name of Jugnu. Jugnu swears to avenge her sister's death, and seeks training from Robert Taylor, and becomes an expert in weapons and fist-fighting. She assumes the guise of a masked male and calls herself "Garam Masala", and inflicts terror in Captain Kishore's life and army. Sunder (Mehmood) works in a hotel owned by Ram Swarup (David Abraham) as a waiter. He is a very funny, uneducated man, with a suitably funny face, opposite to his name. Radha (Leena Chandavarkar) is the daughter of Ram Swarup. She often comes to the hotel, and Sunder happens to meet her and amuse her with funny jokes. One day, in a casual remark, she says,"I like your innocence". He does not understand the word 'innocence', and thinks that she likes him. Jeevanlal is an Indian man who makes money by stealing. His wife Sita doesn't like her husband doing any criminal activity.Both have a son, Dharamchand and a daughter named Meena. One day Jeevanlal steals from the Tehsildar's home, returns to his home and hides the stolen property with his son.The police arrive at his house and start enquiring the young Dharm about his father. Dharm honestly gives away the stolen properties with him to the policed officers. Jeevan gets arrested and he lands in prison. He begins to start hating his son for putting him into trouble.Years go by and now Dharm has grown up man and he loves his mother a lot. He also has a girl friend named Gauri Malikram, daughter of the village money lender. Gauri was a wild tom boy who after falling in love with Dharm becomes a sensible girl and wishes to get married to him. Dharm now has taken the occupation of farmer and he does well for himself and his family. Even now Jeevanlal still harbours hatred towards his own son. Jeevanlal even visits brothel and gives away the money kept by Dharm for his sister's wedding to a dancer Dharm, an animal lover does not like the cows being sold after they are old and useless. He respects cows and worships them. But Jeevanlal decided one day to sell the cow,which is opposed by Dharmchand. Jeevanlal strikes his son with a stick and to defend himself Dharam picks up another stick. Sita goes and stops the fight and scolds Dharm for disrespecting his father. Sita asks him to get lost and on hearing this Dharm leaves the village and comes for work to Bombay. He gets to work with a building contractor and from whatever he earns send his savings to his mother. After few months, Sita receives a letter that Dharm is coming back to home.Sita feels escalted and on the day he is supposed to reach the village, she decides to receive him in the village bus stand. But on reaching the bus stand she learns from bystanders that Dharm has already left for the house. When Sita reaches home she finds Dharm with an axe and her husband dead. Sita falls in a delimma as she knows Jeevanlal and Dharm never got along with each other but she never expected that Dharm would kill Jeevanlal. Sita still does not believe that Dharm would have killed his father. Dharm gets arrested and his lawyer is Ravi Sharma. It is then that the truth will come out what really transpired between father and son that compelled one to kill the other.
