Synopsis
Dans une petite colonie néerlandaise, au cœur de la jungle malaise, le docteur Holk, grâce à son travail et à beaucoup d'alcool, arrive à survivre malgré le climat, la pestilence des marais, la solitude par l'absence de compatriotes, la folie meurtrière qui frappe parfois certains naturels. Il reçoit la visite d'une riche femme du monde, Hélène de Haviland qui, enceinte de son jeune amant, Jan, veut avorter avant le retour de son mari parti plusieurs mois au-delà des mers. Le docteur refuse mais atteint de folie amoureuse, amok, subjugué par la beauté hautaine de cette femme il déclare qu'il est prêt à pratiquer l'intervention si elle se donne à lui. Elle ne l'écoute pas davantage et dans sa limousine décapotable conduite par Maté elle retourne dans sa luxueuse demeure où elle va retrouver Jan pour lui annoncer qu'elle veut rompre. Décidée de ne pas mener à terme sa grossesse, elle se rend dans un bouge où elle rencontre un praticien chinois qui se charge de l'affaire. L'intervention est funeste et lorsque le mari revient, c'est le cadavre de sa femme qu'il trouve. Le docteur Holk voulant sauver la réputation de celle qu'il a aimé permet l'inhumation mais Monsieur Haviland veut ramener le corps de son épouse dans son pays natal pour qu'il soit autopsié. Le médecin fermement résolu à sauvegarder l'honneur de cette femme provoque l'immersion du cercueil et se noie par la même occasion.Actors

The film starts in the present and in flashbacks looks at how Cindy and Dean met each other. Dean is a young high school dropout, working for a New York City moving company. Cindy is a pre-med student living with her constantly fighting parents and also caring for her grandmother in Pennsylvania. Cindy and Dean meet at Cindy's grandmother's nursing home while Dean is delivering a new resident's furniture. They begin to date. Cindy discovers she is pregnant, and tells Dean that the baby is most likely not his, as her previous boyfriend Bobby ejaculated during intercourse without the use of protection. Dean asks Cindy whether or not she wants to keep the baby. At an abortion clinic, Cindy decides at the last moment to cancel the procedure, and on the bus ride home, Dean tells her he doesn't mind if the child is not his, and that he wants to begin a family with her.

The story is about Priya Bakshi (Preity Zinta), the daughter of Gulshan (Anupam Kher) and Rohini Bakshi (Farida Jalal). She later learns that she is pregnant with Rahul's child. Her parents go back to Rahul to talk about marriage but to their shock he refuses to marry her. Priya is faced with a decision, and she chooses to keep the child. Her decision prompts her father to chuck her out the house. Alone and neglected Priya is devastated. Later; however her parents and brothers find it hard to live without her and they bring her back. But now she has to face the society and overcome the disdain of her neighbors, among others. Society virtually ostracizes her and her family. Upon going back to college she finds out that all of her friends now mock her, and girls prefer to stay away from her due to her bleak character. During all this time Ajay sticks by her like a true savior, and Priya starts falling for him. With his support and with the courage she was nurturing in her womb, she makes people realize that she isn't a fornicator, but a girl who loved someone immensely. She could have gotten rid of the child she holds in her body, but she didn't because her child was a being and not a piece of trash. She says that if only she had gotten married, maybe the scenarios would have been different, maybe her child would have been loved and valued, rather than abused and insulted. With these words, she eventually gains the support of those who had earlier disrespected her. Her friends finally accepted her the way they did before and she was having a back to normal life. At the same time she manages to change Rahul's views as well and he decides to marry her. in a fit of a moment, Ajay and Rahul both propose her. Priya, who had already started feeling for Ajay selects him over Rahul stating a spineless guy like Rahul can never be a reliable husband.

Alex Whitman (Matthew Perry) is an architect from New York City who is sent to Las Vegas to supervise the construction of a nightclub that his firm has been hired to build. Alex is a strait-laced WASP-ish type who, while enjoying a night on the town, meets Isabel Fuentes (Salma Hayek), a free-spirited Mexican-American photographer. Alex and Isabel are overtaken by lust at first sight and end up spending the night together; however, their immediate attraction doesn't last in the cold light of day, and they don't see each other for another three months. Chantel Mitchell (Ariyan A. Johnson) is an African-American, 17-year-old high school junior who lives in Brooklyn, New York. Chantel is very smart, although her sharp tongue, abundant ego, and occasional naivete undermine her efforts.
