Synopsis
Berlin, 1944. Trois Germano-Américains, qui sont dans le Reich allemand depuis le début de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, sont enrôlés pour un service militaire spécial. Ferdinand Steinbichler, dont la mère vit à la Nouvelle-Orléans, est venu à Berlin en 1936 pour les Jeux olympiques d'été et y est resté. Paul Blümel avait une entreprise de camionnage au Canada avec son frère, il fut surpris par le début de la guerre alors qu'il voulait amener sa mère sur le continent américain. Le Berlinois Willi Kuhlke a vécu à Los Angeles avec sa femme et son beau-père jusqu'à la veille du début de la guerre. Il est revenu à Berlin pour rendre visite à sa tante à héritage malade. Il n'a jamais vu son fils Pietro qui est né en Amérique. En raison de leur connaissance des habitudes américaines, les trois sont chargés d'exécuter l'« opération Campagnol ». Il s'agit de faire venir un U-Boot sur la côté américaine et faire exploser une usine de Lockheed.Actors

Quatre militaires allemands sont condamnés pour leur inconduite par le Tribunal disciplinaire et sont incorporés au bataillon 999. Le premier, le Colonel von Bartlitz, Grand Croix de Fer, a sauvé la vie à cinq cents blessés en les sortant de l’enfer de Weschensjaka, alors que les ordres étaient d’abandonner ces hommes à leur sort. Le second, Erik Wiedeck, est un paysan qui a prolongé sa permission sans autorisation pour aider sa femme enceinte à moissonner les blés. Le troisième, Ernst Deutschmann, est bactériologiste. Son erreur a été de tester sur lui-même un nouveau vaccin qui pourrait sauver des milliers d’hommes, mais qui l’a rendu incapable de répondre à l’appel. Enfin, le quatrième, Karl Schwanecke, profitait des alertes pour cambrioler les appartements.

After a brief introduction to the principal characters, the film follows Asterix as he encounters a group of Roman legionaries in the forest. Despite being significantly outnumbered, Asterix leaves the Romans beaten and bruised for daring to interrupt his wild boar hunt. Their state upon their return to camp prompts the leader Phonus Balonus to seek the secret behind the Gauls' seemingly superhuman strength. Phonus selects a volunteer (by means of a single round of musical chairs) to pose as a Gaul in order to infiltrate the village; the unlucky loser is a short, slack-tongued misfit named Caligula Minus. He is dressed in a wig, false moustache and traditional Gaulish dress and led in chains through the forest as a prisoner, awaiting rescue by the Gauls. Sure enough, Asterix and Obelix free Minus and believe his flimsy cover story that he is a Gaul from Belgium.

King Rudolf IV (Sellers) dies in a balloon accident upon the celebration of his seventieth birthday. In order to secure the throne, General Sapt and his nephew Fritz travel to London, where the King's son, Rudolf V (Sellers), resides and lives through the day in London's pleasure establishments; but the King's demented half-brother Michael (Kemp), thinking that he is the better claimant, sends an assassin after them. Hansom cab driver Sydney (or Sidney) Frewin (Sellers), the new King's half-brother from an affair with a British actress, rescues Rudolf from an assassination attempt. Once his resemblance to the King is noticed, Frewin is hired by the general ostensibly as the King's coachman, but actually to play the role of decoy. The ruse is quickly uncovered, however, when during an attack by Michael's men the royal guardsmen address Frewin as their new king, and the two look-alikes get acquainted.
