Ballerina is a 2006 documentary film that follows the training sessions, rehearsals, and everyday lives of five Russian ballerinas at different stages in their career. The film features footage of classes at the Vaganova Ballet Academy as well as performances in the Mariinsky Theatre.

Synopsis

Le film retrace les efforts quotidiens des meilleures ballerines russes. Alina Somova est en dernière année d'apprentissage à l'école de danse de Saint-Pétersbourg et à la suite du ballet de fin d'année intègre la troupe du prestigieux théâtre Mariinski. Elle y retrouve Evguenia Obraztsova, connue du public non averti pour avoir joué dans Les Poupées russes de Cédric Klapisch. Elles dansent aux côtés des plus grandes étoiles comme Diana Vichneva.

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Summer School Program is the first step to beginning a career as a professional ballet dancer. But that doesn't mean that it's easy. 9 young girls come from all over the world to enter the program, knowing that if they don't get in by a certain age, it will be far too late to become a ballerina.
