Anjan Dutt, Amyt Datta, Lew Hilt, Nondon Bagchi, all in their mid-50's are members of a successful Bangla-band. They go for a show in North Bengal where Ranjana performs a small opening salutation. Anjan Dutt asks Ranjana (Parno Mittra) to come and meet him in Kolkata and promises to help her in recording her solo. Once in Kolkata, Ranjana stays at Anjan's house with him and his housekeeper, Kanchan Mullick. This is a story about four friends, Hari, Shekhar, Ashim, and Sanjay. They studied at the same school. Ashim studied to be a doctor, but decided to never pursue that profession. Sanjay worked for an ad agency but left the job. The rest have never held a job. They started a Bengali band, but they were beaten up by the public at a stage show in North Bengal. They vowed to never perform again. At this point, they start a travelling agency, called 'Gharoa Travels'. On their first trip, they start the journey with only 9 passengers. On the way to the hills, a girl named Ria joins them. The film deals with their journey through North Bengal. The ten tourist and the four operators form an assorted medley of characters. As the journey progresses, their natures are slowly revealed. Four young boys with stardust in their eyes practise their numbers not knowing what they are really aiming at. But the garage is under threat from a South Kolkata don Baburam (Chandan Sen). One morning, an elderly man, San (Anjan Dutt), arrives from "America and Paris." Baaji, (Sumit) the drummer who is a Muslim had to drop out of school. He escapes from the trap of turning a terrorist like his older brother Sultan. He later becomes a police officer who bashes up everyone who tries to bribe him. Neon (Tanaji) plays the bass guitar but, sucked into the world of drugs, he disappears from the face of the earth with his guitar. A family drama based on two families belonging to the polar opposite Bengali and Marwari communities, the film centers on childhood friendship, a probable wedding and above all the triumph of young love. Pashupati Ghosh, the patriarch of the Bengali family, lives gregariously but still in denial of his waning wealth, whereas his neighbour Praveen Agarwal, although he has amassed a great deal of wealth over the course of years, lives a miserly life. Differences of opinions, scheming family members, shifting cultural dynamics and a secret love that has blossomed despite of all odds forms the crux of this film, the love between Saban and Arjun is one where Chana plays the messenger delivering clandestine notes from one lover to another. Drama unfolds when both the families come to know about Saban, Arjun, and their plan to elope. Just when Saban is to be married to a U.S.-based computer engineer Niky. Underlying tensions erupt and bubble to the surface, each family blames the other. Amidst this entire ruckus, Saban is locked inside her room and attempts suicide. She is rushed to the hospital where they refuse to let Arjun visit her. On the other hand, Pushupati is constantly threatened by the local goon Krishnagopal Das to vacate his property. Navin the brother of Praveen Agarwal who has had his eyes set on the property for a long time is carrying out this plan. Arjun intervenes and is mortally injured; he is rushed to the I.C.U. where immediate blood is needed. Pashupati willingly steps in to donate blood and their blood groups miraculously match each other. In the process, Pashupati saves Arjun's life. Two young men, Apu (Parambrata Chatterjee) and Andy (Shayan Munshi) are trying to achieve their dreams. Apu is a Bengali who has lived in Kolkata all his life and works for an IT company. He has dreams of going to the US and making it big there. He gets his chance when a relative offers him a job in Houston, Texas. As he is leaving he promises his girlfriend, Sheela (Raima Sen) that he will come back soon and take her to the US.
