Anjan Dutt, Amyt Datta, Lew Hilt, Nondon Bagchi, all in their mid-50's are members of a successful Bangla-band. They go for a show in North Bengal where Ranjana performs a small opening salutation. Anjan Dutt asks Ranjana (Parno Mittra) to come and meet him in Kolkata and promises to help her in recording her solo. Once in Kolkata, Ranjana stays at Anjan's house with him and his housekeeper, Kanchan Mullick. One night Anjan tries to seduce Ranjana but due to too much drinking and he faints allowing Ranjana to run. But she stays and nourishes him. This is a story about four friends, Hari, Shekhar, Ashim, and Sanjay. They studied at the same school. Ashim studied to be a doctor, but decided to never pursue that profession. Sanjay worked for an ad agency but left the job. The rest have never held a job. They started a Bengali band, but they were beaten up by the public at a stage show in North Bengal. They vowed to never perform again. At this point, they start a travelling agency, called 'Gharoa Travels'. On their first trip, they start the journey with only 9 passengers. On the way to the hills, a girl named Ria joins them. The film deals with their journey through North Bengal. The ten tourist and the four operators form an assorted medley of characters. As the journey progresses, their natures are slowly revealed. Pijush GangulyMadly Bangalee is a Bengali rock band that inspires the film’s title. They rehearse in a dowdy garage of Kolkata, owned by Bobby (Lew Hilt), who owns Bobby’s Garage. Four young boys with stardust in their eyes practise their numbers not knowing what they are really aiming at. But the garage is under threat from a South Kolkata don Baburam (Chandan Sen). One morning, an elderly man, San (Anjan Dutt), arrives from "America and Paris." Baaji, (Sumit) the drummer who is a Muslim had to drop out of school. He escapes from the trap of turning a terrorist like his older brother Sultan. He later becomes a police officer who bashes up everyone who tries to bribe him. Neon (Tanaji) plays the bass guitar but, sucked into the world of drugs, he disappears from the face of the earth with his guitar. Pablo, lead singer, lead guitarist and lyricist, leaves for the US and the group breaks up. Bobby dies.
