Candy is a 2006 Australian romantic drama film, adapted from Luke Davies's novel Candy: A Novel of Love and Addiction. Candy was directed by debut film-maker Neil Armfield and stars Heath Ledger, Abbie Cornish and Geoffrey Rush.
Candy, produced by Margaret Fink, was released in Australia on 25 May 2006 and subsequently released around the world.
Synopsis
A poet named Dan (Heath Ledger) falls in love with an art student named Candy (Abbie Cornish) who gravitates to his bohemian lifestyle – and his love of heroin. Hooked as much on one another as they are on the drug, their relationship is alternating states of oblivion, self-destruction, and despair.Actors

"Doc" Delaney (Burt Lancaster) is a recovering alcoholic who, in his younger days, was a promising medical student who dropped out of school to take a job to support a pregnant Lola, whose premarital intercourse with Doc caused her to be thrown out of her family's house by her father. Doc, thinking he was doing the right thing, married Lola (Shirley Booth). The child later died, and in the process rendered Lola unable to have any further children, leaving the couple childless. As a result, Doc turned to drinking excessively, causing him to have bouts of anger and murderous rage, and later drinking away a sizeable inheritance from his parents. He eventually joined Alcoholics Anonymous and was able to quit drinking, though he still keeps a bottle in the house to remind him of his past life.

Rashad (T.I.) is a teen living in Atlanta with his Uncle, George (Mykelti Williamson) and his little brother Ant (Evan Ross). The film begins with Beau (Hedlund), singing with Kelly (Paltrow), a recovering alcoholic going through rehab. Simon is a famous violinist who became a drunkard. His wife Laura created seven years earlier a classical orchestra of which he was one of the three pillars. After an attack of delirium tremens, he meets Pierre, a former alcoholic, who was able to overcome his habit, and who decides to help Simon. This would change his with Laura, who has always tried in vain to save Simon from his addiction, and is resentful of a stranger’s success.
