The film stars Michael Peña as Chávez. John Malkovich co-stars as the owner of a large industrial grape farm who leads the opposition to Chávez's organizing efforts. It premiered in the Berlinale Special Galas section of the 64th Berlin International Film Festival.
Synopsis
The film follows Chávez's efforts to organize 50,000 farm workers in California, some of whom were braceros—temporary workers from Mexico permitted to live and work in the United States in agriculture, and required to return to Mexico if they stopped working. Working conditions are very poor for the braceros, who also suffer from racism and brutality at the hands of the employers and local Californians. To help the workers, César Chávez (Michael Peña) forms a labor union known as the United Farm Workers (UFW). Chávez's efforts opposed, sometimes violently, by the owners of the large industrial farms where the braceros work. The film touches on several major nonviolent campaigns by the UFW: the Delano grape strike, the Salad Bowl strike, and the 1975 Modesto march.Actors

Le film raconte l'histoire d'un journaliste espagnol contemporain, Robert, qui essaye de renouer des relations avec son père mourant, Manolo. Ce dernier a participé à la guerre civile espagnole. The story is based on real events and real people and is set in the mid-1950s freehold township of Sophiatown, Johannesburg— one of the few areas in South Africa where blacks could own property and drink alcoholic beverages. Drum begins with the central character, sportswriter Henry Nxumalo, reporting on a boxing match with Nelson Mandela. Nxumalo leaves his wife Florence at home while going out into his community's night life and has an affair with a female singer. He works for Drum magazine, which was "the first black lifestyle magazine in Africa." The magazine was financed by whites and had a multiracial staff; it was popular among the black community. Drum's British editor, Jim Bailey (Jason Flemyng), asks Nxumalo to write on the township crime scene, and Nxumalo, while at first unwilling, finally agrees. While on the job, he encounters Slim (Zola), a gang leader, that he had previously met in illegal township drinking places, and witnesses him kill a man in Sophiatown.

Four teenage girls — Carmen, Tibby, Bridget, and Lena — are best friends from Bethesda, Maryland, who are about to separate for the summer for the first time in their lives. À la fin de son règne, lors du Jubilé de 1887, on découvre la reine empêtrée par l'obséquiosité servile de son entourage. Affectivement, elle est seule depuis la mort de son mari trente ans plus tôt, ce que la scène introductive du banquet ne manque pas de souligner : les convives n'y paraissent que comme des pantins sans partager aucun affect ni propos avec la Reine. Lors de ce banquet, un seul invité se distingue : un des deux Indiens dépêchés par les autorités coloniales depuis la cité d'Agra pour présenter une pièce commémorative, et tenus par le protocole de ne jamais dévisager la Reine lorsqu'ils la lui montrent, ainsi que de se retirer le dos courbé à reculons tout le long du hall. Ce dernier ne respecte pas cette règle et tient un regard appuyé vers la Reine, laquelle ne manquera pas de le trouver beau ("handsome") en rapportant ultérieurement ses impressions auprès de son majordome. Elle réclame ensuite à nouveau sa présence, à la stupéfaction des valets.
