Paul, featuring comic costume scramble at the Music Hall Sports on 14 July 1896 at Herne Hill, London. The music hall sports day was an annual charity event consisting of other events such as egg and spoon races and three-legged races. The film is the best surviving pictorial record of the Music Hall Sports. It is not known who the race participants are.
The film was, according to Michael Brooke of BFI Screenonline, "presented at Windsor Castle on 23 November 1896," which, "enabled Paul to add a royal seal of approval to his advertisements." It is included on the BFI DVD R.W. Paul: The Collected Films 1895-1908.
Another film of the costume race at the Music Hall Sports was produced in 1898. In 1899, Cecil Hepworth produced a film on a similar race, entitled Comic Costume Race for Cyclists. This film depicted a group of cyclists racing to a pile of clothing, containing costumes such as those of a policeman and a clown, before remounting and racing to the finishing line.

À la terrasse d'un pub, deux jeunes gens élégants (blazers et chapeaux de paille) jouent aux échecs. L'un d'eux, profitant d'un moment d'inattention de son partenaire, déplace une pièce décisive. L'autre s'en aperçoit, une querelle s'installe, le tricheur se voit pincer le nez et riposte en aspergeant son adversaire d'eau de Seltz. Ils en viennent aux mains, renversent la table, roulent à terre, disparaissant à nos yeux. Le combat se poursuit, hors-champ, une jambe surgit, un bras brandissant une chaussure, les canotiers traversent les airs, les cravates, les vestes giclent en tous sens… Le serveur arrive, scandalisé, et remonte (dans le champ de la caméra) les deux querelleurs, couverts d'ecchymoses et étourdis de coups.

Most of the characters in the film are not named. A girl disguises herself as a boy to go attend the 2006 World Cup qualifying match between Iran and Bahrain. She travels by bus with a group of male fans, some of whom notice her gender, but do not tell anyone. At the stadium, she persuades a reluctant ticket tout to sell her a ticket; he only agrees to do so at an inflated price. The girl tries to slip through security, but she is spotted and arrested. She is put in a holding pen on the stadium roof with several other women who have also been caught; the pen is frustratingly close to a window onto the match, but the women are at the wrong angle to see it.

The ball happened to be the one hit by San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds for his record-setting 73rd home run at the end of the 2001 MLB season. When the ball landed in the right-field bleachers at what was then Pac Bell Park (San Francisco), there was a mad scramble for the precious ball, bodies piled up on the walkway above McCovey Cove.
