Add to a movie listCry Woman (Chinese: 哭泣的女人; pinyin: Kū qì de nǔ rén) is a 2002 Chinese film directed by Liu Bingjian. It was Liu's third feature film and like his previous two films, Incense and Men and Women, Cry Woman was not given permission to screen in China.
Cry Woman stars the Beijing Opera star Liao Qin in her first film role.
Despite being banned in China, the film was screened at several international venues, including the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival held in the Czech Republic and in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival.
Synopsis
Wang Guixiang (Liao Qin) and her husband (Li Longjun) are a migrant couple living in Beijing. Wang is eking out a career selling pirated DVDs when disaster strikes and police confiscate her DVD stocks, and her husband is arrested after getting into a fight over a mahjong game. Forced to return to Guizhou, she meets an old boyfriend (Wei Xingkun), who suggests she take a job as a professional mourner. Surprisingly, Wang finds herself very good at her new job as a "cry woman" and soon discovers that her talents are very much in demand.Comments

Men and Women follows the travels of a young homosexual man, Xiao Bo, who goes to Beijing in search of a job. In a Jewish ghetto in German-occupied Poland, a man named Jakob is summoned to the Gestapo office on a charge he broke the curfew. As the soldier who sent him there merely played a prank on him, he is released, but not before hearing a radio broadcast about the defeats of the German Army. As no one believes he went to the Gestapo and came out alive, Jakob makes up another tale, claiming he owns a radio – a crime punishable by death. He then starts encouraging his friends with false reports about the advance of the Red Army toward their ghetto. The residents, who are desperate and starved, find new hope in Jakob's stories. But it all ends as the Germans deport the people to their death in the extermination camps.

In Kenosha, Wisconsin, Ivy, editor at her high school paper, and her long-term boyfriend Seth are in their final year of high school and already have been accepted at good colleges; before Ivy goes to college to study journalism, she will go on a trip to Paris with her mother for her graduation present, while Seth will go to Caltech to study architecture. Set in Atlanta, the film opens with fitness trainer Jules Baxter (Cameron Diaz) and her dance partner Evan Webber (Matthew Morrison) performing on the TV show Celebrity Dance Factor.
