Synopsis
Madeline entrevoit l'été qui arrive avec Bonheur. L'école se termine dans quelques jours. À elle les après-midi à flâner avec Claudie et Sara, ses deux meilleures amies. Puis il y a sa grande sœur Anne qui quitte la maison. Madeline a enfin une chambre à elle toute seule. Freddy, un ardent admirateur, ne la lâche pas d'une semelle, un vrai fléau.En plus, voilà que l'exuberante tante Ruth débarque à la maison, après douze ans d'absence, et s'installe dans la chambre de Madeline ! Dès lors, Freddy et Ruth seront les deux préoccupations de Madeline, Comment s'en débarrasser ? Et, surtout, quelle est l'histoire de cette excentrique et si mystérieuse tante Ruth?Actors

Bob Maconel (Slater) is a disillusioned office worker with ideas of murdering his coworkers. One particularly bad day, Bob goes from potential killer to inadvertent hero – coworker Coleman "goes postal" and shoots up the office before Bob does. Bob stops the shooter's plans by killing him with the gun he planned to use on the others, and in the process saves Venessa's (Elisha Cuthbert) life. The former invisible nobody is suddenly thrown into the spotlight of public notice, he is considered a hero by those he wished to murder, promoted by a grateful boss to "VP of Creative Thinking" and given all the perks of higher management. Meanwhile, he saves the object of his desire only to have her ask him to end her life; her injuries have left her a quadriplegic.

Following a nervous breakdown and upon returning home following treatment, Chase Phillips (Helen Mirren) is hired a helper, Elizabeth (Kyra Sedgwick) by her husband, Richard (Beau Bridges). Chase is opposed to being given a helper and treats both her husband and Elizabeth with contempt. Charlie Bellow, a polite, kind-hearted young man, hopes he will one day secure a managerial position with the Tiller King agricultural company, where his father works as a maintenance mechanic. When he starts business school in New York City, he hears news that his cousin has suddenly died. Taking responsibility for the drunken, blacked-out girl, he sobers her up and begins a relationship with her over several weeks. While becoming fascinated with Jordan, he soon comes face-to-face with her volatile personality and learns more about her past through wild, drunken dates. Among other things, Jordan tells Charlie that her fiancé recently left her, tells a Tiller King representative she is pregnant with Charlie's child, sabotages Charlie's job interview with another Tiller King representative, and gives a piano recital where she asks him to bring her a single red rose and pushes him into the sea – and then saves him. Despite this, Charlie begins to fall in love with Jordan but clashes with her father, who believes Charlie is responsible for her erratic behavior. Because of this, Jordan begins to drift away from Charlie.
