Bien qu'elle soit une héritière et plutôt charmante, Venice Muir est très timide. Bientôt, elle est le toast de Paris, des prétendants faisant la queue pour la courtiser, dont René, un homme de lignée noble. À son insu, René est très endetté. Lorsqu'elle rejette sa proposition, René se suicide, renforçant la réputation de Venise en tant que renarde déchirante. De retour à la maison, Venise est suivie de plus de commérages, dont certains sur Guy. Un Donnie ébloui recommence à la poursuivre, gagnant finalement Venise sans jamais connaître sa ruse.
