The film was initially screened at various film festivals in the United States, Poland and Russia and received favorable reviews. Mark Savlov of the Austin Chronicle wrote about Duress after seeing it at Fantastic Fest in Austin: "With a mind-blowing denouement that makes the last five minutes of The Sixth Sense feel like the last five minutes of Stranger Than Paradise and a pair of harrowing, human (and inhumanly calibrated) performances from Martin Donovan and Rouvas, Duress comes across like a slap to the psyche, a splash of ice-water across the soul." The film was released theatrically in Greece by Greek distributor Hollywood Entertainment.
The movie was written by Jim Kehoe and directed by Jordan Barker and was filmed in Los Angeles, California. The film was the first American production by popular Greek singer-songwriter and actor Sakis Rouvas, who had the primary antagonist role in the film.
Synopsis
Richard is mourning his wife's recent suicide while attempting to mend his relationship with his only daughter while still haunted by his recent trauma. However, Richard is caught as a witness to the inhumane brutality of Abner Solvie (Sakis Rouvas). Richard finds himself at the mercy of Abner, becoming his new-found protégé to further the crimes and brutality, while he is burdened by his involvement in the recent local murders. Richard is forced by the charming yet sociopath Abner who forces his mentality upon Richard who is defenseless, as he needs to protect his loved-ones. Richard must ultimately choose whether he is willing to kill in order to protect his daughter's life, while soon realizing that Abner is not the only deadly threat surrounding him.Actors

Sarah (Katharine Isabelle) and Cory (Robin Dunne) have decided to go on vacation, taking Cory's young son Liam with them. They're hoping that the vacation will help ease some of the issues that Liam has with Sarah, as he resents that his widowed father remarried. Successful children's author Claire Holloway (Gabrielle Anwar) is troubled by nightmares, for which she is seeing a psychiatrist.
