Synopsis
ACP Arjun Singh (Om Puri) and his brother-in-law, Tayaji (Dara Singh) are with the police force but when Tayaji is killed on duty Arjun's family are devastated by his death. His wife Rukmani (Farida Jalal), daughter Kajal (Preity Zinta) and son Rahul are shattered by his death and soon Arjun is fearful that the same person that killed his brother-in-law will come after him or his family.Actors

Kajal (Karishma Kapoor) is the daughter of Prof. Sidhant Sharma (Alok Nath). Karan (Sunny Deol) is a criminal working for Gajraj Chaudhry (Amrish Puri) who falls in love with Kajal and follows her everywhere. Initially she dislikes him. But gradually they fall in love and Karan leaves the world of crime to return to a normal life. Rajeev aka Raju (Salman Khan) comes back from America and is to be married to Kajal. Kajal leaves Karan which breaks his heart and he starts visiting Tulsibai (Tabu), a tawaif (dancer/prostitute). Raju learns that his Dad (Dalip Tahil) and Uncle Gajraj are into illegal activities. He tries to destroy their business. So Karan is given the contract of killing Raju. Karan finds out that Raju is Kajal's husband.

Young Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar) lives with his elder brother, Rohit his sister-in-law Kiran, and a niece. After an accident fractures his leg, he is unable to walk for some time. Due to psychological reasons, he cannot walk even after the fracture heals. When the Malhotras move to Dehra Dun, Raj befriends their neighbour, young tomboy Kajal (Lara Dutta), as both share a common passion for aeroplanes. Kajal encourages Raj to walk, and he succeeds. Years later the two continue to be fast friends, and everyone expects them to marry soon. Raj secretly loves Kajal and is waiting for the right time to propose her. However, Kajal sees him only as her best friend. Raj is recruited by the Indian Air Force and goes for training for a year and a half. After his training gets over, he rushes to Kajal to propose her, only to find out that she has given her heart to a multimillionaire, Karan Singhania (Aman Verma). Raj tells Kajal that Karan is the best life partner for her, but does not reveal his true feelings. Kajal and Karan get married and during the reception party, Kajal comes to know about Raj's feeling for her. Hurt by the fact that she did not see his feelings for her despite being Raj's best friend, Kajal asks him to move on in his life as now she is a married woman. Thereafter the Malhotras move to Nainital, and Raj relocates to Cape Town for training.

Raj (Salman Khan) is a singer trying to make his way in the big city of Mumbai. He rescues a young woman who has fallen in front of a train and stays with her when she is rushed to a hospital. Pooja Oberoi (Rani Mukerji), the daughter of a wealthy family, survives but falls into a coma. Her family rushes to the hospital and, finding Raj there, assumes that he is Pooja's husband, Romi, with whom she had eloped and whom they had never met. Raju (Anil Kapoor) lives with his disabled mom (Farida Jalal). Karan (Sanjay Kapoor) and Kajal (Juhi Chawla) are in love and ready to settle down and lead a happy life. This action-packed movie is about an unflinching former soldier Karan (Sanjay Dutt) who has on the brain the revenge of the death of his upright father who allegedly dies in jail because of a lawyer Ravi Verma (Chandrachur Singh) and his crooked associates, i.e. his father-in-law Singhal (Raj Babbar) & his allies. In a shot of revenge, Karan one day fires at Ravi and his wife Kajal (Mahima Chaudhry) in which Kajal is killed and Ravi is mentally impaired as he loses his memory. As a medication to restore Ravi's memory, a Kajal's lookalike Kajri (Mahima Chaudhry, in a dual role) is engaged by Singhal to represent Kajal, with Ravi under Singhal's stronghold. But an obstinate Karan is ready for a war to the knife to kill Ravi. With the help of Kajri Ravi starts to get back his memory. Suddenly he starts to behave like a good guy and when he comes to know about Karan who is trying to kill him, he pacifies with Karan with the help of kajri and promises Karan that he will prove his father was innocent. Learning this Singhal and his allies try to kill Ravi, Kajri and Karan. In the final fight Karan wins over the baddies and his father is proved innocent.

U.S. based Anjali Thapar (Amrita Rao) has repeated dreams of a parallel life in India, the temple of Devi Maa Durga, & some sword-wielding men on horseback. Anjali does not know that Tejeshwar is still alive, is a powerful minister in the Indian Government, and has decided that he will make history repeat itself by separating the two lovers again - this time with the help of the government machinery.
