Fate (Turkish: Yazgı) is a 2001 Turkish drama film directed and screen-written by Zeki Demirkubuz based on the Albert Camus novel L'Étranger... It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival.

Synopsis

Yazgi (Destin), inspiré de "L'Étranger" d'Albert Camus, montre un personnage, Musa, qui paraît exilé du monde, indifférent à tout, à commencer par son propre sort. Fonctionnaire aux douanes, il constate avec indifférence, voire soulagement, la mort de sa mère, avec laquelle il vivait ; il se marie sans plus de sentiment avec une collègue dépitée de n'être rien de plus que la maîtresse de leur chef de bureau. Lorsque ce dernier assassine sa femme et ses enfants, et se débrouille pour faire accuser Musa, présent auprès d'eux ce jour-là, il accepte la responsabilité du meurtre, bien qu'il ne l'ait pas commis.

Uğur (Vildan Atasever) is a bar singer who is in love with a somewhat unstable criminal, Zagor (Ozan Bilen). Her father is seriously ill and her young mother is emotionally distant. Bekir (Ufuk Bayraktar) is a young man who runs his father's business. He becomes infatuated with Uğur after she visits his shop one day. After a series of violent incidents and mishaps occur in Istanbul, both Uğur and Zagor disappear. After Zagor is landed in prison some time afterward, Uğur reappears and asks Bekir to help her. Meanwhile Zagor is transferred to a prison in Sinop. Uğur tries to trace Zagor who has escaped from prison as Bekir tries to trace Uğur.

Albert (Perry King) is the chauffeur and lover for a wealthy pianist, Sills (Peter Donat). When Sills finds another chauffeur/lover, Albert is forced onto the streets of Los Angeles. She finds Albert squatting in one of her properties and she offers Albert to spend the night at her house on the couch. The next day, she goes to work, expecting Albert to move out, but instead Albert cleans her cluttered house and cooks a fantastic dinner. Without verbally acknowledging it, they agree that Albert can stay longer and perform domestic duties while Stella continues working. Albert also gets a part-time job as a valet.
