Forbidden Games (French: Jeux interdits), is a 1952 French war drama film directed by René Clément and based on François Boyer's novel, Jeux interdits.
While not initially successful in France, the film was a hit elsewhere. It won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, a Special Award as Best Foreign Language Film in the United States, and a Best Film from any Source at the British Academy Film Awards.
Synopsis
It is June 1940, during the Battle of France. After five-year-old Paulette's parents and pet dog die in a German air attack on a column of refugees fleeing Paris, the traumatized child meets 10-year-old Michel Dollé whose peasant family takes her in. She quickly becomes attached to Michel. The two attempt to cope with the death and destruction that surrounds them by secretly building a small cemetery among the ruins of an abandoned watermill, where they bury her dog and start to bury other animals, marking their graves with crosses stolen from a local graveyard, including one belonging to Michel's brother. Michel's father first suspects that Michel's brother's cross was stolen from the graveyard by his neighbour. Eventually, the father finds out that Michel has stolen the cross.Actors

En France pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, sous l'occupation allemande, Édouard Martin qui a toute l'apparence d'un père tranquille, est un chef important de la résistance à l'insu de sa famille. Il est secondé par Simon et Pelletier qui est secrètement amoureux de sa fille Monique. Celle-ci découvre les activités de son père et voit naître son amour pour Pelletier. Alors que se prépare une action sur l'usine voisine, le jeune Pierre Martin s'enfuit de la maison pour rejoindre le maquis. Pour éloigner sa famille et les voisins du bombardement de l'usine, Édouard Martin organise les fiançailles de Pelletier et de sa fille en ville, ce qui alerte la police allemande qui l'arrête. Blessé mais sauvé par les maquisards, le père tranquille est reconnu avec fierté par son fils.

As Germany is in the throes of losing World War II, a number of wealthy Nazis and some French sympathizers head for South America in a German submarine leaving from Oslo. The film's narrator is a French doctor (Henri Vidal) who has been kidnapped to tend a sick woman, Hilde Garosi (Florence Marly), the wife of one man and the lover of another, both aboard. The doctor realizes he will be murdered at any point once the woman has recovered so he tries various stratagems to escape. All fail.

1935. Jacques et Simon sont deux petits malfrats à la petite semaine vivant de braquages et de vols de bijoux. La sortie de la "Citroën Traction Avant" leur ouvre de nouvelles perspectives en raison de sa grande vitesse. Ils intensifient leurs forfaits tandis que l'inspecteur Deschamp s’intéresse à eux. Dans un bal populaire, Jacques drague Lola, une jolie prostituée qui va désormais les accompagner dans leur coups... Lorsque la Seconde Guerre mondiale éclate, les trois amis se trouve embringués dans une affaire de vol de tableaux récupérés chez des collectionneurs juifs. Le trio souhaite alors doubler les allemands, déroute le train transportant les tableaux et charge un camion. Les autorités allemandes déclarent qu'en représailles 50 civils seront fusillés à moins que les tableaux soient rendus. Simon rend le contenu du camion aux allemands, mais désormais la guerre est ouverte entre le trio et l'inspecteur Deschamp, passé entre temps collaborateur de la Gestapo. Deschamp parviendra à kidnapper et à torturer Lola qui refusera de parler. De son côté Jacques et Simon kidnappent Dominique la femme de Deschamp. Les deux femmes sont échangées, mais Jacques a pu remarquer pendant sa capture que Dominique ne tenait pas en haute estime son mari. L'idée lui vient de coucher avec elle afin de lui soutirer des renseignements sur les activités en cours de la Gestapo. Cela fonctionne un moment jusqu’au jour où Jacques et Dominique sont arrêtés sur leur lieu de rendez-vous. On torture Jacques, Dominique dit alors aux allemands que c'est son mari qui fournit des renseignements à la résistance. Deschamp a alors le choix, tuer sa femme ou se suicider, il tue Dominique, mais les allemands considérant qu'il s'agit d'un acte de résistance désespéré, le torturent et l’emprisonnent. A la Libération, Jacques est décoré par le général De Gaulle... mais Deschamps également qui se voit offrir un poste important au ministère de l'intérieur.
