Ghanchakkar (English: Crazy) is a 2013 Indian suspense comedy caper film directed by Rajkumar Gupta and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur from UTV Motion Pictures. The film stars Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan in the lead roles. The theatrical trailer debuted on 28 March 2013, along with Himmatwala. The film received mixed reviews from critics.

Synopsis

Sanjay (Emraan Hashmi) is a master safe cracker who maintains a casual lifestyle with his wife Neetu (Vidya Balan). He is offered the chance to assist with a bank robbery alongside two criminals, Pandit and Idris. The heist, if successful, will ensure that he never has to worry about money again, so he accepts the offer. The three thieves make off with 350 million rupees. While his associates lie low until the heat dies down, Sanjay hides the money, but when Pandit and Idris return for their share, they find that Sanjay has apparently lost his memory. To make sure they're not being cheated, the two move in with Sanjay until his memory returns.

Ce film s'inspire de l'histoire vraie du meurtre de Jessica Lall, tuée d'une balle dans la tête en pleine soirée people à Delhi, le 29 avril 1999 pour la seule raison qu'elle refusa de servir un verre au fils d'un politicien. Malgré les 12 témoins, l'énergie de Sabrina, la sœur de Jessica pour obtenir justice et après 7 ans de procès, le meurtrier, Manu Sharma est acquitté. Les témoins qui étaient tout d'abord prêts à témoigner vont progressivement retourner leur veste et être incapables de reconnaitre Manu comme l'auteur du coup de feu. Cette injustice criante interpelle la presse et le Times of India titre alors en février 2006 "No One Killed Jessica". A la même époque, sort le film, Rang de Basanti (à voir aussi), qui appelle le citoyen à ne pas se laisser faire devant les puissants corrompus et encourage chacun, individuellement, à agir pour changer le système.
