Section 84 is an upcoming Indian thriller film directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and produced by Eros International. It tells the story of a prostitute suffering from schizophrenia who finds herself caught into the web of a criminal activity when she is released from a mental asylum and meets an office worker in disguise; it stars Kareena Kapoor in a lead role and user Ramesh Ramaiah in a supporting role. DNA India states that "the psychological thriller deals with Section 84 in the Indian Penal Code – which says that nothing that a person with an unsound mind does amounts to being an offence."
Principal photography is set to begin in August 2015.

Sanjay (Emraan Hashmi) is a master safe cracker who maintains a casual lifestyle with his wife Neetu (Vidya Balan). He is offered the chance to assist with a bank robbery alongside two criminals, Pandit and Idris. The heist, if successful, will ensure that he never has to worry about money again, so he accepts the offer. The three thieves make off with 350 million rupees. While his associates lie low until the heat dies down, Sanjay hides the money, but when Pandit and Idris return for their share, they find that Sanjay has apparently lost his memory. To make sure they're not being cheated, the two move in with Sanjay until his memory returns.

Ce film s'inspire de l'histoire vraie du meurtre de Jessica Lall, tuée d'une balle dans la tête en pleine soirée people à Delhi, le 29 avril 1999 pour la seule raison qu'elle refusa de servir un verre au fils d'un politicien. Malgré les 12 témoins, l'énergie de Sabrina, la sœur de Jessica pour obtenir justice et après 7 ans de procès, le meurtrier, Manu Sharma est acquitté. Les témoins qui étaient tout d'abord prêts à témoigner vont progressivement retourner leur veste et être incapables de reconnaitre Manu comme l'auteur du coup de feu. Cette injustice criante interpelle la presse et le Times of India titre alors en février 2006 "No One Killed Jessica". A la même époque, sort le film, Rang de Basanti (à voir aussi), qui appelle le citoyen à ne pas se laisser faire devant les puissants corrompus et encourage chacun, individuellement, à agir pour changer le système.

In Sultanpur, a picturesque village in Pakistan, villagers have gathered to watch a game of cricket between India and Pakistan on television. Hawaldar finds an abandoned new born baby boy in the gutter of Kamathipura, a red light area of Bombay. A prostitute, meanwhile gave birth to another baby boy. She decides to educate him and requests Hawaldar to give him a father's name. Hawaldar's wife does not accept the child and leaves for her parents home. Hawaldar adopts the child and names him Ajay while the prostitute's son is named Shlok. Both are admitted to School and become friends. Shlok does well in studies whereas Ajay takes up gambling. Shlok falls in love with Pooja, daughter of J.K - a millionaire. Ajay does not believe in love and is a cynic. Havaldar tries his best to get Ajay a job but Ajay finds that it is difficult for him to work in a corrupt society. Ekka Seth is a terror in the prostitutes basti and he exploits the innocent girl and forces them into prostitution. Shlok graduates and completes his M.B.A. Ajay wins a crore rupees in gambling and encourages Shlok to pursue his project. Ekka and his men abduct and kill Hawaldar's daughter.Ajay decides to avenge this and proceeds to kill Ekka's men and frees the sex workers from his clutches. He then takes on Ekka and manages to kill him, but is grieviusly wounded in the fight. The final scene shows Ajay dying to protect his brother and attaining martyrdom.
