Synopsis
Now in their late twenties and married, Gidget and Jeff live in Santa Monica, Jeff working as an architect and Gidget as a travel agent. They have no children of their own, but are looking after Gidget's niece Kim while Anne and John (Kim's parents) are in Europe.Actors

The film follows the story of football team owner Bert (George Kennedy) who will inherit one million dollars from a railroad tycoon if he can successfully drive a steam train from New York City to its namesake of Chattanooga, Tennessee in 24 hours. Now that Jeff has completed his military service and landed a lucrative job as an engineer, he and Gidget marry and move to Glossop, Maryland, where his new job is. An anthropologist, Professor Robert Orville Sutwell is secretly studying the "wild mating habits" of Southern California teenagers who hang out at the beach and use strange surfing jargon. After he temporarily paralyzes Eric Von Zipper, the leader of the local outlaw motorcycle club, who was making unwanted advances on Dolores, she develops a crush on the Professor. Her surfing boyfriend Frankie becomes jealous and begins flirting with Ava, a Hungarian waitress. Meanwhile, Sutwell's assistant Marianne further develops her crush on the Professor.
