Synopsis
While vacationing on the Greek Isle of Love, a repressed 30-year-old Stefania reluctantly plays chaperon to her precocious 14-year-old niece, Meggy, who plans to lose her virginity before the summer is over. Unbeknownst to Stefania, Meggy's chosen man is in fact Stefania's ex-boyfriend. Amidst a mélange of sun rash, broken diets, nervous girls, sleeping bags, orgasms, '80s music, and a little ginger and cinnamon, the two women discover themselves and their sexuality.Comments

Claudio (Elio Germano) is a young construction worker who lives a happy life with his pregnant wife Elena (Isabella Ragonese) and their two children in Rome. They manage together their daily difficulties with love and complicity. One day in the construction site, Claudio discovered the corpse of an illegal Romanian worker who died while working in a drunk state, but decided not to report the discovery for fear that the site would be closed down. His life is further struck when Elena dies while giving birth to their third son Vasco, right after their vacation. This is the beginning of a new phase for Claudio, who now concentrates on becoming richer, and buying "things" to his three sons in the hope of making them happier after the loss of their mum. Claudio blackmails his employer Porcari about the dead Romanian worker, demanding his own construction site to supervise in exchange for his silence. Claudio obtains the whole construction business, and not only the wall building business.

In a grammar school in the outskirts of Rome comes on the last day of school before the summer holidays. Professor Vivaldi, Italian literature teacher, before the end bitterly remembers what happened in that year and he wonders him what will happen to those young students that he cared for as a children from their first day of school. But they've paid off him in a somewhat offensive, given that, as the professor has noted, today's youth are in most cases changed, drifters and without a sense of civic duty.

Accio (Elio Germano) and Manrico (Riccardo Scamarcio) are working class brothers who live in Italy in the 1960s. While his brother becomes drawn into left-wing politics, Accio, the hotheaded younger brother, is taken under the wing of a market trader and while under his influence, joins the Fascist party. Accio ("Bully") is a nickname he is proud of because it makes him seem tough. Manrico and their sister Violetta are alarmed to hear their brother listening to Benito Mussolini's speeches in his room. Manrico often physically torments his brother, including stuffing his head in the barrel under the drain pipe of their house.

Le juge milanais Damiano Fortezza (Diego Abatantuono) est muté dans une ville du sud de l'Italie qui se trouve sous la menace d'un volcan actif. En 1848, dans la région de la Toscane, Edo (Giovanni Guidelli ) et Lupo (Paolo Hendel) sont deux bergers qui gardent des troupeaux dans la Maremme de la province de Grosseto. Afin d'aider la veuve d'un ancien ami mort du paludisme, il détrousse le messager Terminio (Antonio Petrocelli ) qui ramène au riche propriétaire Cesare del Ghiana (Giacomo Piperno ) la recette de la foire. Mais Terminio les dupe en leur donnant une petite partie de la recette, puis en gardant pour lui le reste, tout en dénonçant les deux amis à son maître, qui ordonne alors à son fils, Diego (Claudio Bigagli), de partir à leurs recherches en compagnie d'une bande de mercenaires. Les deux amis fuient vers le Nord et se perdent dans les anciennes Via Cave de la région, avant d'être capturé par la bande de brigands de Gianloreto Bonacci (Ciccio Ingrassia). Ce dernier les enferme avec Lady Rowena (Angela Finocchiaro), une duchesse étrangère. Le trio est finalement secouru par Diego et ses mercenaires, mais Edo et Lupo en profitent pour s'échapper une nouvelle fois. Ils arrivent finalement sur les rives du lac Burano, où ils sont recueillis par le marquis Lucifer Ombraviva (Ugo Gregoretti). Par amusement, ce dernier accepte le pari de l'abbé Flamart (Dario Cantarelli ), qui prétend pouvoir instruire l'un des deux bergers afin d'en faire un aristocrate, et ce malgré sa modeste condition. Edo reste alors avec l'abbé, tandis que Lupo s'en va. Mais le destin va bientôt rapprocher une nouvelle fois les deux amis .
