Accio (Elio Germano) and Manrico (Riccardo Scamarcio) are working class brothers who live in Italy in the 1960s. While his brother becomes drawn into left-wing politics, Accio, the hotheaded younger brother, is taken under the wing of a market trader and while under his influence, joins the Fascist party. Accio ("Bully") is a nickname he is proud of because it makes him seem tough. Manrico and their sister Violetta are alarmed to hear their brother listening to Benito Mussolini's speeches in his room. Manrico often physically torments his brother, including stuffing his head in the barrel under the drain pipe of their house.![Nasty Baby](/imagesen/small/173267.jpg)

Raj Khanna (Rishi Kapoor) is a wealthy businessman who lives with his wife Archana (Rati Agnihotri), stepsister Devyani (Mita Vasisht), her spouse, and her son Teddy, in a mansion. Raj and Archana's lives are marred by marital discord, until they separate. Shortly before separating, Archana gives birth to identical twins: one of these is taken by Devyani and handed to Raj without Archana's knowledge. This infant becomes an embittered young woman sentimentially named Sweety (Kajol), and Raj becomes a helpless alcoholic. Archana has moved to London with the other daughter, Tina (Kajol). In contrast to Sweety's ferocity, Tina is meek, compassionate, sympathetic, and demure. Each year, Archana buys two identical presents, gives one to Tina on her birthday, and locks the other into a closet to symbolize giving to Sweety, whom she believes is dead.![The Syrian Bride](/imagesen/small/11040.jpg)

Sixteen-year-old Minnesota high-schooler Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page) discovers she is pregnant with a child fathered by her friend and longtime admirer, Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera). She initially considers an abortion. Going to a local clinic run by a women's group, she encounters outside a schoolmate who is holding a rather pathetic one-person pro-life vigil. Once inside, however, Juno is alienated by the clinic staff's authoritarian and bureaucratic attitudes. She is particularly offended by their calling her "sexually active", a term which she feels demeans the highly emotional event by which she became pregnant. All of this decides her against abortion, and she decides to give the baby up for adoption. With the help of her friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby), Juno searches the ads in the Pennysaver and finds a couple she feels will provide a suitable home. She tells her parents, Mac (J.K. Simmons) and stepmother, Bren (Allison Janney), who offer their support. With Mac, Juno meets the couple, Mark and Vanessa Loring (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), in their expensive home and agrees to a closed adoption.![Raging Rose](/imagesen/small/173070.jpg)
