Although the movie centers on a romantic love triangle with tragic consequences, it has a strong history background, set in Hungary during World War II. The film is based on the novel by Nick Barkow, co-written and directed by Rolf Schübel and tells a fictional story about the creation of the infamous song "Gloomy Sunday". Starring are Joachim Król (László, Jewish restaurant owner), Erika Marozsán (Ilona, waitress and László's lover), Stefano Dionisi (András, pianist who creates "Gloomy Sunday") and Ben Becker (Hans Wieck, a German business man who becomes an SS officer).
Synopsis
In the present day, German industrialist, Hans Wieck returns to Budapest with his family on the occasion of his 80th birthday having been stationed there during World War II. During dinner at his favorite restaurant, Szabo's, Hans regales his family and friends with stories of his many visits to the restaurant before and during the war. As he relishes his favorite dish, "Beef Rolls" he suddenly collapses with the song "Gloomy Sunday" being played, at his request, by two musicians. As he dies he sees a portrait of a beautiful woman taken many years before. The film then flashes back to Budapest during the late 1930s.Actors

Riccardo Broschi décide de faire castrer son petit frère Carlo, futur Farinelli, en maquillant cela sous la forme d'un « accident », afin qu'il puisse conserver cette voix cristalline sensationnelle sans laquelle la musique de Riccardo, qui est compositeur, ne vaudrait rien. Le jeune homme parcourt les opéras avec son frère. Une jeune femme, Alexandra, vient un jour demander aux frères Broschi de donner une représentation dans un petit théâtre anglais en pleine faillite. Ils acceptent. C'est alors que s'engage la concurrence entre les Broschi qui veulent sauver le théâtre et Haendel, l'ancien maître des deux frères et célèbre compositeur. Le théâtre gagne considérablement en popularité, mais Haendel tente par tous les moyens de récupérer la voix exceptionnelle de Farinelli. Haendel fait une allusion à « l'accident » qui a coûté sa virilité à Farinelli. Ce dernier découvre alors la vérité et la relation privilégiée qu'il avait avec Riccardo s'efface. Farinelli et Alexandra sont amoureux. Riccardo, qui cherche à se faire pardonner et à rendre une vie « normale » à son petit frère, fait un enfant à Alexandra, puis part s'engager dans l'armée. Il disparaît de la vie de Farinelli, que l'on voit, dans l'une des dernières scènes du film, embrasser le ventre arrondi par la grossesse d’Alexandra.

In 1964, Guy Patterson (Tom Everett Scott) is an aspiring jazz drummer who works at his family's Erie, Pennsylvania, appliance store. Jimmy Mattingly (Johnathon Schaech) and Lenny Haise (Steve Zahn) ask Guy to sit in with their band at the annual Mercyhurst College talent show, because their regular drummer Chad (Giovanni Ribisi) has broken his arm. The last member of the group is the bass player, who is never referred to by name (Ethan Embry). The group rehearses a ballad titled "That Thing You Do". Strong-willed, widowed schoolteacher Anna Leonowens arrives in Bangkok from Wales with her young son Louis after being summoned to tutor the many children of King Mongkut. The two are introduced to the Kralahome, King Mongkut's confidante and Siam's prime minister. His severe countenance makes Louis apprehensive, but Anna refuses to be intimidated and convinces him to disguise his fear ("I Whistle a Happy Tune"). The Kralahome explains he has come to escort them to the Royal Palace where they will live – a violation of Anna's contract, which calls for them to live in a separate house outside the walls of the palace. Ishaqzaade depicts the passionate love story of two defiant, rebellious individuals. In 1815, convict Jean Valjean is released on parole by prison guard Javert after serving a nineteen-year sentence for stealing a loaf of bread and numerous escape attempts. Valjean is refused employment due to his paroled status. He is offered food and shelter by the Bishop of Digne, but Valjean steals his silver during the night. When he is captured by the constables, the Bishop tells them that the silver was given as a gift, securing Valjean's release. The Bishop urges Valjean to do something worthwhile with his life.
