Golconda High School (Telugu: గోల్కొండ హై స్కూల్) is a 2011 Indian Telugu sports drama written and directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti under the Artbeat Capital banner, which earlier produced the hit film Ashta Chamma (film). It stars Sumanth and Swati Reddy in the lead roles. The noted cinematographer, K. K. Senthil, was the DOP for the film, and the music was scored by Kalyani Malik. The movie is based on the book The Men Within, written by Hari Mohan Paruvu. Released on January 15, 2011. In addition to receiving excellent reviews, it was declared a commercial hit as well. It also received a very high TRP rating on its Television premiere on April 17, 2011.
Synopsis
Golconda High School's Board’s Trustees' member Kireet Das comes up with a proposal of turning the cricket playground into an IIT coaching center. Principal K.Viswanath opposes that proposal vehemently with the support of few trustees. Kireet then tells the principal to show positive results in at least one sport if he wants to hold on to the playground. Viswanath comes up with a proposal that the playground should be retained if GHS’s cricket team manages to win the State level cricket league tournament. He summons his former GHS student, Sampath, an idealist who leads a dejected life. Sampath, after confronting Kireet, joins GHS as the cricket coach and he has three months to convert the disoriented GHS cricket team of 14 students into champions.Actors

The movie starts with a small introduction that all the female fans of actor Mahesh Babu were "angry" with him when he got married. Even the heroine is one of them, though she is a die hard fan. Although her aunt (Jhansi) keeps telling her that it's not possible to get her married to Mahesh she pays no heed and stays depressed for days. Finally, she compromises with her aunt by demanding that her husband's name must be Mahesh. Her aunt relents and starts the search for the groom, though in vain.

In a remote village in Kerala named Brahmamangalam, the people have a passion for cricket. From India winning their first Cricket World Cup in 1983, to present times, the story follows the father-son relationship of two generations. As a teenager Rameshan(Nivin Pauly) is passionate about cricket and performs well in his academics. His father (Joy Mathew) wants his son to become an Engineer one day. Rameshan is in love with Manjula (Nikki Galrani), who is studying in the same school. He is part of a local cricket team, formed by his close friends, and wins many local tournaments with his above par performance in batting. However, with time his academic results turn very poor and even fails in his 12th Board exams.Even if he fails in his academics, his love for the game remains the same and his father continues to protest against this. His love interest, Manjula, is very good in studies and join another college for higher education.

Karan (Zain Khan) is a thirteen-year-old orphan boy who lives in a dilapidated orphanage owned by a stern, uncouth warden, John "Hitler" Kakkad (Rajesh Khera). Karan has two dreams: one is to have parents and the other is to be a big cricketer. His inspiration is Kapil Dev since he has been brought up on the motivating stories of India's '83 World Cup win by the orphanage caretaker, Bholu Dada (Susheel Parasher) who is a loving and a gentle old man. Karan's best friend in the orphanage is Daboo (Deeptiman Chadhury) who often lends his gentle ears to the aspirations which Karan lives on. His dreams take a turn when one day, he lays his hands on an old cricket bat which Karan is convinced is the bat that Kapil Dev used to win the '83 World Cup; for him, the bat becomes a magic bat. One day by a stroke of luck, the coach of the Indian cricket team spots Karan playing cricket and is highly impressed by his batting skill. At that point in town, the Indian National Cricket Team have been going through a "rough patch". Karan and his magical bat are inducted into the Indian cricket team as the opening batsman along with the captain, Varun (Rahul Bose). When the little boy marches onto the pitch and wins the match for India Karan soon becomes the nation's heartthrob. Although he was formerly rejected by adopting couples, he is now the most sought after kid in the country. However, Raghav (Raj Bhansali), the orphanage bully, hates him and feels that if Karan did not have the magic bat he would have never made it to the cricket team. Raghav now wants the magic bat at any cost. Karan and Varun develop a strong emotional bond deeper than fellow cricketers. Karan has no parents and Varun has parents, but is estranged with his father and does not want to accept him. Karan strongly believes that parents are the best gift endowed by God and succeeds in uniting Varun with his father. At the final 5th one day match between India and Pakistan, events spiral out of control and Karan's magic bat is destroyed by Raghav. Karan is a nervous wreck, but Varun makes him realize that faith in oneself counts beyond anything else. With Karan's help, India wins the match. After the match, Karan decides to stop playing and rejoin the team when he is older. Varun and his girlfriend, Malini (Meera Vasudevan) decide to adopt Karan.

He hits the ball to the boundary, when his dog, Pincher, runs away with it. By the time the fielding team catch Pincher, McDougall has make enough runs to win. There is a romantic subplot involving McDougall's daughter.
