Glory Eden is a radio star, the "Purity Girl" of the Ipsy-Wipsy Wash Cloth radio program, whose sponsor, Sam Ipswich, wants her public image to match her radio persona, and has her constantly chaperoned by the press agent, Speed Dennis. During an interview with the columnist Elmerada de Leon, Glory hints that she might not re-sign with Ipsy-Wipsy. She says that she is tired of always being "the good girl", and needs to let down her hair for a while. Frightened of the prospect of losing their star attraction, and in order to placate her, Ipswich and Dennis hatch a publicity scheme to have her romanced by one of her many fans. They select a most unlikely subject, Jim Davey, who hails from the hills of Kentucky.
