It was entered into the 1977 Cannes Film Festival, where Monique Mercure won the award for Best Actress. The film won multiple Canadian Film Awards, including best feature film. It was selected as the Canadian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 50th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. In 1984 the Toronto International Film Festival ranked the film seventh in the Top 10 Canadian Films of All Time.
Synopsis
L’action se déroule au Québec au tournant du XX siècle, alors que la photographie est encore naissante. Chaque été, le photographe Martin quitte sa famille et part sillonner le Québec rural où il vend les photographies qu’on lui demande de prendre. Une année, sa femme décide de le suivre dans son périple. Après quinze ans de mariage, elle n’a jamais pu partager cet aspect de la vie de son homme. Sur le chemin de sa passion à lui, c’est pour les deux un temps de redécouverte de l’autre et des autres.Actors
