Produced by Kathiresan's Group Company, it features Siddharth, Bobby Simha and Lakshmi Menon in the lead, while the supporting cast includes Nassar, Ambika, Karunakaran and Sangili Murugan. Gavemic U Ary was the film's cinematographer, making his debut in Tamil cinema, and Vivek Harshan was the film's editor. Santhosh Narayanan composed the songs and background score. The film was produced under Kathiresan's production banner, Group company.
The plot revolves around Karthik (Siddharth), an assistant director who is thrown out of a reality new filmmakers show, as his short film was disappointing. Heartbroken, Karthik has the support of one of the judges (Aadukalam Naren) who believes he has the stuff to be a great director and is willing to back him if he does a script on a real life gangster. Karthik travels to Madurai looking to make a film based on the life and times of the notorious gangster Assault Sethu (Bobby Simha). The rest of the plot deals with how Karthik makes his film with the help of his friend Oorani (Karunakaran).
The shoot of the film, entirely held in Madurai, started on June 12, 2013 and was completed after five months on November 21, 2013. Jigarthanda released on August 1, 2014 worldwide to critical acclaim from critics as well as audience who appreciated the film's script, performances, cinematography and music.The film was deemed as one the most technically brilliant films of kollywood The film was also dubbed into Telugu as Chikkadu Dorakadu, becoming Siddharth's first Telugu release in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh post their bifurcation. The film completed 50 days at the box office, and was declared a "Hit" after it grossed ₹350 million (US$5 3 million) against a budget of ₹100 million (US$1 5 million). It also won two National Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor (Simha) and Best Editing (Harshan).
Synopsis
Karthik (Siddharth) is a short-film maker and aspires to make a feature film. He participates in a talent search program (like Naalaya Iyakkunar) and is in the semi-final round. The show’s two judges include a highbrow film director (Nassar) who trashes Karthik’s attempt at film-making and a profit-oriented producer (Aadukalam Naren) who riles against the director, and declares that Karthik made the best film among the contestants. Though the director eliminates karthik from the contest,the producer offers to produce a film with Karthik as the director and both the judges storm out of the show. The next day, the producer is annoyed that Karthik took his words seriously and came to meet him. He is uninterested in the script that Karthik wants to film, and instead suggests that he wants to make a gangster film along the style of Nayagan, Thalapathi, The Godfather etc. Karthik takes this suggestion to heart and sets his mind on documenting the life of a gangster and making a film script out of it.Actors

Michael Karthikeyan (Vijay Sethupathi) is a pizza delivery boy who lives with his girlfriend Anu (Remya Nambeesan). She is an aspiring novelist and is researching for writing a horror story, whereas Michael does not believe in supernatural powers, and is afraid of anything supernatural. Anu, keeps telling him that he would soon realize the presence of supernatural beings. At first, Michael is confused and scared, and his fears are confirmed when he comes to know his boss, i.e., the Pizza restaurant owner Shanmugam's (Naren) daughter is possessed by a spirit. Meanwhile, Anu becomes pregnant, and after a brief altercation, Michael and Anu get covertly married. One particular day, Michael goes out to deliver a pizza to a customer and returns to the restaurant in a state of shock while covered in blood; he is apparently injured, keeps constantly muttering Anu's name, and seems to be worried about her. When his boss questions him, Michael explains that he had been to deliver a pizza to a customer named Smitha (Pooja) in a bungalow and recounts the events that happened at the bungalow.

On Christmas, we meet foster brothers John and Charlie. They work as transit cops patrolling the New York City subway. When a mugging occurs, John and Charlie chase the mugger into a subway tunnel, and all trains traveling in their direction are halted. But their harsh transit captain Donald Patterson, allows the money train to continue. Sawaki (Shin'ichi Tsutsumi) is a postman. He has an old friend Noguchi (Keisuke Horibe) who, unknown to him, had become a yakuza. Noguchi was being spied by the police for a long time. One day Sawaki delivers a letter to him and stays at his place for a while. During his stay Noguchi puts a package of drugs into Sawaki's letter bag. His finger, which he cut off as a symbol of loyalty to his gang, also accidentally falls into the bag. He meets a hit man Joe (Ren Osugi) there who tells him how he had won the contract killing competition called the "Killer of killers". The police profiler (Tomoro Taguchi), who was following Sawaki, comes to the conclusion that Sawaki is a member of the criminal gang. Meanwhile, Naguchi discovers that the finger he had cut was no longer in his house. All this marked the beginning of problems for Sawaki.

Lorna Cole (Rene Russo) is pregnant with LAPD sergeant Martin Riggs' baby; they are not married, but both are thinking about it.
