Synopsis
Khanna plays Shekhar Varma, a Mumbai police inspector. He is happily married to Meena (Sheshadri) and they have a school-age daughter. One day, Shekhar's police department receives a call saying that an editor, Ritesh Nandy, has come across incriminating evidence that could expose the wrongdoings of some very influential people. Ritesh is killed despite being assigned police protection.Actors

Shamsher Singh (played by Vinod Khanna) is part of the Indian army led by Subhas Chandra Bose to fight British out of India. With British on his back to catch him in Hong Kong, he is rescued and helped by Suzy (played by Helen). Falling in love with him, Suzy becomes pregnant with Shamsher's baby. But she lets Shamsher go back to India as he is on a greater mission asking him to return to take her and their baby along with him to India. Junoon tells the story of Vikram (Rahul Roy), who goes on a hunting trip with his friend Araun into the forest on a full moon night. While in the forest, Vikram is warned by a tribesman named Bheema (Mushtaq Khan), who tries to persuade him to go back home, stating that the night of the full moon is the tiger's night to hunt. Vikram laughs it off and decided to go after the tiger not believing that this tiger is the cursed tiger. Arun finds something fishy and asks Vikram to go back. Suddenly it starts raining and the duo had to find a place to stay. Some strange voices were heard by the duo and they find the voices were coming from a den but as the duo have to find a place to stay in they decided to enter the den. Within the den Arun discovers writings on the walls in Sanskrit. These writings describe the tale of a king who could not have a child. One day a tantric told him if he caught a pair of tigers who were in love, and on a full moon night, to kill one tiger and drink his blood, thereby allowing the king to have a child. The king did everything he was told, but when he killed one tiger, the surviving mate cursed him. The curse transformed the king into a tiger each full moon night and he hunted man. The curse also entailed that anybody who killed the king when he was in the tiger's form would in turn get cursed and so the curse would carry on forever. Vikram berates his friend for believing an age-old myth and they are then attacked by the cursed tiger. Vikram tries to shoot the tiger but he missed the shot and Arun is killed on the spot by the tiger and Vikram became very scared. The shot fired by Vikram hits the fire lamp and a chain of fire was built in the den, the tiger hides due to this but the tiger roars from somewhere. Vikram was unable to find the tiger. Scared Vikram fired shots everywhere in the den with the hope that the tiger will run away but the tiger attacks Vikram and Vikram fell in the ring of fire. The tiger did not again attack Vikram as tigers are afraid of fire and tiger makes a disappearing act.

The film was made famous by the excellent portrayal of the eunuch, Maharani (Sadashiv Amrapurkar), an evil madam running a brothel that employs many girls like Pooja (Pooja Bhatt) and Chanda (Neelima Azeem). Ravi (Sanjay Dutt), a taxi driver, meets Pooja before she is bought by Maharani, and his friend Gotya (Deepak Tijori) is in love with Chanda. Ravi witnessed his sister Roopa (Soni Razdan) plunge to her death after being diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease. She had eloped with her lover who sold her off at a brothel and forced her to become a prostitute. This violent incident has left Ravi traumatised and scarred for life, as he has become an insomniac who keeps having disturbing visions of his sister's death and is restless and violent on occasions.On one of his taxi plying days, he meets Inspector Irani (Pankaj Dheer), who Ravi recognises from an article that was published about the cop when he had won a medal. Ravi drops him off to his destination, refuses to take any money from him and the cop tells him to come to him if he ever needs help of any kind.

Roshni (Sridevi) is the only child of Sharda Chhadha (Reema Lagoo). Her father, Prakash Chhadha (Anupam Kher), left before she was born and she has no knowledge of where he went. Roshni is introduced to Rahul Malhotra (Rahul Roy) and they share a mutual attraction. When he learns that she is an aspiring singer, he assists in her career so she becomes popular. She has a devoted fan named Jaggannath alias Jaggu (Sanjay Dutt), who is a petty thief. He is in love with her but she rejects him. During a trip she and Rahul had taken to Hong Kong, she is arrested for trafficking cocaine and Rahul disappears. Jaggu brings an attorney, but she is quickly found guilty and sentenced to death. Jaggu visits the prison and runs afoul of two guards, themselves lovers, who beat him in front of Roshni. The attorney works to help them escape. A fight ensues between Roshni and the female guard in which the latter is killed. The warden intervenes and is killed by Jaggu. They escape and return to India. At the airport Prakash is questioned by the police and Roshni learns that he is her father, and that he had fled the country years earlier when he has been wrongfully accused of treason. Later at Rahul's house, Rahul admits that he had been dealing with drugs that resulted in Roshni's arrest. She slaps him for deceiving her and ends their relationship. With Prakash's blessings, Roshni and Jaggu get married.
