Set against the backdrop of the Mumbai underworld, Kaminey follows a rivalry between a pair of twins, one with a lisp and the other with a stutter, over the course of a single day.
Bhardwaj co-wrote the screenplay with Sabrina Dhawan, Abhishek Chaubey, and Supratik Sen. Bhardwaj bought the original script for US$4 000 from Kenyan writer Cajetan Boy—whom he had mentored at a scriptwriting workshop in Uganda. Kaminey was released on 14 August 2009 and became a box-office success worldwide, grossing over ₹710 million (US$11 million) against a budget of ₹350 million (US$5 3 million). The film's soundtrack album also became a commercial success, with the song "Dhan Te Nan" topping the charts on various platforms.
Kaminey was well-received, with several critics and media publications placing it at number one on their listings of "Best film of the year". Since its release, the film has attained cult status. It received several awards and nominations at ceremonies across India. At the 55th Filmfare Awards, it received ten nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor; it won the award for Best Special Effects. At the 57th National Film Awards, Kaminey won two awards — Best Audiography for Subash Sahoo and Special Jury Award for its editing by A. Sreekar Prasad.
Synopsis
Charlie and Guddu are twins who were raised in Mumbai. Charlie lisps while Guddu stutters. Charlie likes to take shortcuts to fulfil his dream of becoming a bookmaker at the racecourse where he works for three criminal brothers who fix races. He is closer to the youngest brother Mikhail than to Guddu, to whom he is hostile. A jockey deceives Charlie when he bets ₹100 000 (US$1 500) on a horse during a fixed race, losing all of his savings. Seeking revenge, Charlie locates the jockey in an upmarket city hotel.Actors

In 1995, during the Kashmir conflict, Hilaal Meer, a doctor, agrees to perform an appendectomy on the leader of a pro-separatist group. To avoid detection, he performs the surgery at his house, much to the chagrin of his wife Ghazala, who questions his allegiance. The following day, during a military raid, Hilaal is accused of harbouring terrorists. A shootout ensues at his home, during which the leader of the separatist group is killed and Hilaal is taken away for questioning. The doctor's house is bombed subsequently to kill any other militant hiding inside. Several days later, Hilaal and Ghazala's son, Haider, returns from his university to seek answers about his father's disappearance. Upon arrival, he is shocked to find his mother singing and laughing along with her brother-in-law, Khurram. Unable to understand his mother's behaviour, he begins searching for his father in various police stations and detention camps with the help of his fiancee Arshia, a journalist.

7 Khoon Maaf tells the story of an Anglo-Indian woman, Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes (Priyanka Chopra), who murders all her husbands. Susanna tries to find love, but six of her seven husbands have a flaw which proves fatal. The killings (and her yearning for love) are explained by the loss of her mother at a young age. The story is told by a young forensic pathologist, Arun, (Vivaan Shah) to his wife, Nandini (Konkona Sen Sharma). Arun has watched Susanna since their childhood, and has a secret crush on her. He owes his life to her; she funded his education, making him what he is today. Arun tells his wife that Susanna has committed suicide, leaving him a note congratulating him on his marriage. The doctor must now confirm that the body found is Susanna's. Arun is unable to overcome his grief over her death and pours out his heart to his wife, who listens patiently.

In 1960, an aspiring musician, Govind (Shahid Kapoor), meets Ruksar (Priyanka Chopra), a young woman who ran away from her home with her best friend to become a famous film star, on a train heading to Bombay, India. Anuradha Verma (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) is a prominent criminal lawyer and a single mother who has never lost a case. The case against Miyaaz Shaikh is handled by a renowned public prosecutor (Atul Kulkarni) who has been defeated by Anuradha and hence has a long time professional rivalry against her. Anuradha races against time and saves her daughter by twisting the laws to win the case.

In mid-2000s, the illegal drug trade based in Kuala Lumpur is booming. The Malaysian authorities are called upon for assistance by their Indian counterparts. The Indian team sent to Kuala Lumpur is headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police D'Silva (Boman Irani), who targets the illegal drug operations of Singhania (Rajesh Khattar). Helping him along the way is Inspector Vishal Malik (Om Puri), an Indian officer from Interpol. Both of them know that in order to put an end to the illegal drug trade, they must capture "Don" (Shah Rukh Khan) who manages Singhania's business in Kuala Lumpur. Singhania was one of the two closest and most trusted men of Boris, a criminal who went underground and was presumed dead by the police. Boris's other lieutenant was a man called Vardhan, equally ruthless as Singhania, but his whereabouts are unknown. The police thinks that Singhania had killed Vardhan upon learning that Boris was about to hand over his drug business to Vardhan.

The film opens five years after the ending of the first film, with Don (Shahrukh Khan) narrating the story. The European drug cartel bosses meet in the French Riviera to discuss a new threat emerging from Asia: Don is jeopardising their business by undercutting their prices, and the bosses decree that Don must die. Living in Thailand for the last five years, he goes to a remote settlement to pick up a shipment of cocaine. Instead of the expected uneventful transaction, Don fights his way out. He returns to Malaysia, surrendering to Roma (Priyanka Chopra) and Inspector Malik (Om Puri). Don is sentenced to death and sent to prison, where he meets old rival Vardhaan (Boman Irani).
