Kanmanikal is a 1966 Indian Malayalam film, directed by J. Sasikumar and produced by P Ramakrishnan. The film stars Prem Nazir, Sharada, Adoor Bhasi and Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair in lead roles. The film had musical score by G. Devarajan.

The head of the joint family thinks Velayudan symbolizes the curse which hangs heavy over the house. To his mother he is source of constant sorrow. His uncle's daughter is his would be bride. He is attached to her. She is very kind to him and refuses to treat him as a mad man. Velayudan triggers problems one after the other and every new lapse help only to put fresh chains. He refuses to feel he is mad. In the end Ammukutty is given away in marriage to an old widower.

Vijaya gets married to Ramu (Prem Nazir), a trade union leader against her will. Ramu leads a union strike and is killed when the agitation turns violent. Vijaya's life becomes miserable and she kills her starving children, but she is arrested before being able to commit suicide. In the end, she is given death penalty by the prosecution, led by her former dear friend Vatsala, who had become a famous lawyer in the meantime.
