Satin Records, which twenty years prior had rejected rock and roll band Eddie and the Cruisers last album A Season in Hell, launches an "Eddie Lives!" campaign to make more money from his image in a publicity stunt, despite them not believing he is alive. The record label re-releases the band's first album, which becomes an even bigger hit than it had on its first release. As seen in the first film, the "lost recordings" from Season in Hell are released and become yet another hit album. In fact, Eddie Wilson is living, and he had simply slipped away following the car crash in which he was believed killed. By that stage in his life, he simply wanted to leave music behind him. The newly generated constant spotlight surrounding his supposed death angers the reclusive rocker, by now living in Canada as a construction worker under the name Joe West.

Director Jean-Claude Lord exploits the post-October Crisis paranoia that was rampant in Quebec with considerable panache with this skilful melodrama. Although the story is not about the events leading up to the War Measures Act, it does draw upon the fabric and feelings of that time. A young photographer (Réjean Guénette) becomes unwittingly entangled in a terrorist organization, which engages in a plot against prominent politicians and business leaders before an upcoming election. The film was hugely popular in Quebec and established Lord as a major director with this, his third feature.

Détective chevronné, Kellen O'Reilly passe beaucoup de temps à organiser une grève des policiers, mais par-ci par-là, des moments de dysmnésie durant lesquels il revoit un mystérieux professeur Satorius le troublent. Lors d'une réunion syndicale, il a une prise de bec avec Sarah, une avocate en droits civils qui poursuit Satorius. Elle accuse Satorius de combiner LSD et électrochocs afin d'induire des patients à tuer, patients dont il lessive ensuite le cerveau. O'Reilly s'introduit dans le laboratoire de Satorius et trouve dans un ordinateur une liste d'assassins, incluant Lee Harvey Oswald. Alors qu'il va confronter Satorius avec cette affaire, il est fait prisonnier. Le professeur et son aide lui font subir des électrochocs afin d'effacer de sa mémoire ce qu'il vient de découvrir.
