Jean-Louis Roux, (18 mai 1923 à Montréal - ) est un acteur québécois.

Biography

Comédien et cofondateur du Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, dont il est le directeur artistique de 1966 à 1982. Il est aussi président de la Conférence canadienne des arts de 1968 à 1970. Il devient directeur général de l'École nationale de théâtre du Canada de 1982 à 1987. Nommé sénateur en 1994, il est nommé lieutenant-gouverneur du Québec en 1996, mais démissionne deux mois plus tard à la suite d'une controverse suscitée par une entrevue dans le magazine L'Actualité, où il raconte avoir porté une croix gammée sur sa blouse de laboratoire pendant ses études de médecine dans les années 1940, en guise de « fanfaronnade et d'esprit carabin ». Sa démission entre en vigueur en janvier 1997. Il est président du Conseil des arts du Canada de 1998 à 2004.

Le fonds d'archives de Jean-Louis Roux est conservé au centre d'archives de Montréal de Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec.
