Synopsis
Enrico Oliveri is a shrewd, experienced politician, a senator and party leader of the center-left whose career is in decline. His party is currently in opposition and by all projections is headed for another defeat in the upcoming elections. Members of his party want to dump him. Suffering depression and exhaustion, he decides to disappear for a while, hiding incognito in Paris, France at the home of a former lover, Danielle, who is now married to a famous film director by whom she has a school-age daughter.Actors

In 2009 the young Eluana Englaro because of an incident remains in a coma. The girl is deemed incurable and therefore the parents opt to commit an act of euthanasia for their daughter; but in Italy it isn't a legal to do this particular process, for which the Church and politics are hurled ruthlessly against the parents of Eluana. In the mean time some episodes occur among acquaintances of the girl, a young woman decides to kill herself wanting to ingest a massive dose of heroin, but she is persuaded to stop by a nurse; while a member of the political government of Berlusconi refuses to align himself with the party and plans to vote against a bill that will make euthanasia illegal.

En Allemagne, les négociations du G8 se déroulent dans un hôtel de luxe où les économistes les plus importants et les dirigeants politiques, réunis par le patron du FMI Daniel Roché, négocient les mesures primordiales qui seront adoptées pour supprimer la pauvreté dans le monde. En plus des ministres, des spécialistes économiques et du directeur du FMI, trois invités se distinguent : un célèbre écrivain de livres pour enfants, une rock star et un prêtre italien, Roberto Salus. Ce dernier est convoqué par Roché qui souhaite se confesser. Mais au lendemain de ses confessions, Roché est retrouvé mort. La réunion est interrompue par son décès mystérieux. Interrogé par les autorités et les dirigeants politiques, Salus, le dernier homme à avoir vu Roché vivant, refuse de rompre le secret de la confession et de dévoiler le contenu de ses entretiens avec le patron du FMI.

In spring 1939, Sara Delano, the mother of Franklin D. Roosevelt, asks his sixth cousin Margaret "Daisy" Suckley to visit the ill President of the United States at their country estate in Hyde Park, New York. Although Daisy and Roosevelt had not seen each other for years, the distant relatives form a romantic relationship, and Roosevelt often asks Daisy to visit Hyde Park when he stays with his mother. Specialist Ray Elwood (Joaquin Phoenix) is a U.S. Army soldier stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1989. Michigan Governor James Reynolds Pryce (Tom Selleck) is a popular liberal politician who, while running for the office of the President of the United States, finds out to what a great degree his life and career are influenced by the women in his life. As a front-runner for the Democratic Party presidential candidate, Pryce owes the success of his campaign to his manager Lauren Hartman (Laura Linney) and his wife Jennifer (Nancy Travis). Pryce has not yet chosen a vice-presidential running mate and has a hard time making the decision. Senator Parker Gable (Robert Culp) was something of a mentor to Pryce in his early political career, but Gable is a womanizer which makes Pryce uncomfortable with making him the vice-presidential candidate. Nevertheless, Gable's Washington socialite wife Meg (Faye Dunaway) considers Gable to be the best choice and tries to exert pressure over Pryce to make this happen. Pryce's other choices are Senator Mitchell Morris (Bruce McGill), a lobbyist whom Pryce dislikes due to his close ties to Big Business, and Senator Terrence Randall (Bob Gunton), who is disliked by Pryce's shallow Hollywood campaign fundraising manager Shawna Morgan (Teri Hatcher). Being previously sexually involved with Lauren, Meg, and Shawna before marrying Jennifer makes listening to their advice all that much harder for Pryce. All four women are seemingly more intent on exerting control over Pryce and winning their own personal battles against each other rather than honestly trying to help him make the correct political decision.

In a presidential election set somewhere in the near future, Bud Johnson (Kevin Costner), a lovable loser from Texico, New Mexico, who is coasting through life and hasn't had a single political thought in his head, is thrust into an improbable dilemma. In response, he is coaxed by his 8-year-old daughter Molly (Madeline Carroll) to take more of a serious approach to life. Molly runs the household and sees an opportunity on election day to energize her father. Molly, frustrated with her father's apathy toward voting, sneaks into her local polling place and tries to vote on behalf of Bud. However, due to the voting machines being unplugged, the ballot is registered, but there is no decision on which candidate gets the vote. The entire election comes down to this one man and, namely, Bud's vote. Neither candidate has a majority in the electoral college without New Mexico's electoral votes. The popular vote is tied for the two major candidates in New Mexico, leaving Bud to decide the next President of the United States. Bud gets wooed by candidates from both sides: the incumbent Republican, Andrew Carington Boone (Kelsey Grammer), and his campaign manager, Martin Fox (Stanley Tucci); and the opposing Democrat, Vermont Senator Donald Greenleaf (Dennis Hopper).

In 1965, Airman Second Class Adrian Cronauer (Williams) arrives in Saigon from Crete to work as a DJ for Armed Forces Radio Service. Cronauer is greeted by Private First Class Edward Montesquieu Garlick (Whitaker). Cronauer's irreverence contrasts sharply with many staff members and soon rouses the ire of two of his superiors, Second Lieutenant Steven Hauk (Kirby) and Sergeant Major Phillip Dickerson (Walsh). Hauk adheres to strict Army guidelines in terms of humor and music programming, while Dickerson is generally abusive to all enlisted men. However, Brigadier General Taylor (Willingham) and the other DJs quickly grow to like the new man and his brand of comedy. Cronauer's show consists of unpredictable humor segments mixed with news updates (vetted by the station censors) and rock and roll records that are frowned upon by his superiors.
